Subject : Folding bambino mios
I am trying to use Bambino mios with my 4 week old girl, and it hasn't been very successful so far. They seem to leak right through when wet, and the poo often gets on the cover. Part of the problem is that I'm not sure how to fold them- at first I tried the loose poo fold, but that seemed to have too little padding at the back, so I tried putting more padding at the back and still no joy. Any tips? I really want to get out of the disposables habit!

Hiya - Sorry I cna;t be on much help but wantd to reply. My lo was premature and so was too tiny for his bambino mios until he was about 6/8 weeks or so and byt then he was on gaviscon that had solidified his breastfed poo so I didn;t have this issue but can imagine what bf poo is like in onw. ALl the diff folds are demoed on video on the bambino mio website so might be worth a look!
I still use a disposable overnight!

Hi Poz - I have been using Bimbino Mios on my little boy since he was about 4 days old. He is now 7 and a half weeks. He was 7lb 6oz when born and was 6lb 7oz by day 5 so he was quite small. Although the nappies look big when you first try them I think this is in part psychological because you get used to seeing babies in disposables. At first we thought they looked too big but ran out of the disposables we'd bought to use at hospital and couldnt get to the shop to buy more so we were forced into using the washables sooner than we'd planned but I'm so glad we did because we decided that they weren't too big after all if folded in the straightforward newborn fold.
We are still using the regular newborn fold. I found the loose poo fold too bulky at the front too although it may be better now that he's a bit bigger. Obviously it easier with a boy because they wee to the front so that's where you want the bulk.
We also find that the poo often spoils the covers but it rarely leaks - just gets dirty on the inside of the leg cuffs. We bought some second hand covers so that we have extra and this makes things much easier (we now have 8 newborn covers!) The problem isn't bad enough to put me off and we are just hoping it will improve once he's weaned and passed the loose poo stage from breastfeeding.

Hi
I also use them but waited until 10 weeks. They do look big but you do get used to them.

Thanks for the replies. I have now ordered some more covers, so hopefully I can get more into the habit of using them, even when the covers do get a bit messy. I'll also try using the standard fold and see how that goes.
