Subject : HELP HELP HELP!!
Hi guys
I have a problem which only started yesterday evening. i was putting my 15 month little girl Chloe to bed and she was quite happy and smiley then as soon as i left her room she started crying / screaming. i first thought it could be her teeth as she is teething at mo so i gave her bongela and calpol then settled her back down. But again as soon as i left the room she started screaming again, working herself into a right state so i again thought maybe her teeth so i brought her downstairs for about 20 mins thinking the calpol needed time to work then she chirped up again so i went to put her in the cot and low and behold she started screaming again.
It ended up with me sitting in there waiting for her to go to sleep then walking out and again the same has happened tonite?
What could it be and how can i put it right cause its pulling on my heart strings leaving her too long crying like that but i wonder if thats what i should do.
As i write this she is crying and has been since 7 (its now 8), so i apologise if some of my message doesnt make sense, just struggling......
thanks

hiya, my dd went threw a fase of a couple of nights carrying on but as soon as you went in shock horror she would stop, i think all babies go threw it at some stage, as long as you know shes not hungry or anything then just leave her to scream until she falls asleep, i know its hard but its the only way to get them back into a routine of going to sleep on their own, its for their own good so dont feel bad :)

Thanks
Normally when its been her teeth, she has settled back down so this is new to me . I think i have to leave her, just pulls at the heart strings, especially when she has worked her self up so much, it sounds awful
thank you though for support, means alot, just didnt know what to do
:(

My lo does this too. Sometimes it's attention and that's when I leave him but when he's teething it is different. I don't know how to explain it but there is a difference to his cry. What I tend to do is give him his calpol then his milk and put him in his cot and leave the room. If he is really crying then I go back in, lay him down and stroke his head til he settles. This can sometimes take 10 to 15 minutes but i try and leave just before he drops off totally. Very, very occaisionally all he wants is a bit of extra comfort so I take him out of his cot and sit in a chair in his room and cuddle him til he relaxes. My 2 rules are try and leave before he's asleep and don't take him out of his room once it's his bed time. Hope this helps. Good luck.

my lo is 20months and has just started doing this too i put him to bed and he would scream til he vomited. so i stopped the milk bottle for bed and now give him ribena he still screams but doesnt vomit. i just leave him in there now and its taking less time for him too go to sleep everynight.
so my advice is just leave your lo and she will eventually drift off i know its one of the hardest things to do in the world but she will eventually get the idea that she has to go to sleep

hi. my little girl done this round about the same age (she is also chloe). i used to lift her a bring her downstairs but she just played on that so i would put her down adn if she was crying go back in and give her a cuddle till she was settled then put her in the cot. at first it took a couple of hours. just going back in giving her a cuddle and leaving again but after a couple of night it only took a couple of attempts. i tend to leave her a little longer in between each cuddle. chloe still does it now and again but i just go back to this again and it seems to settle.xxx

Thanks everyone
it does look as though i just need to leave her from listening to you all and then if she does work herself up too much, i will go in her room and stroke her head but leave her in the cot until she settles?
I knew it wasnt right as normally with her teeth, some calpol and a cuddle normally suffice so i was a little shocked when this happened and was like............ sh@t whats she doing that for and the other half looking at me for some direction?
She has started to now to do it on her afternoon naps although not as long and i manage to just leave her completely, so just need to work harder on the evening one.
So hard but i know i need to do it otherwise i am just making it worse!! keep telling myself that.
Thanks again
Anna
