Subject : very bulky nappies?

I got a trial set of nappies through council scheme - not branded which is a pain as doesn't really help that much with decision making! But mainly, the nappies are very bulky and look far too thick on my 7 week old!

Is this what I can expect from reusables or is it just what they've sent me? I also tried kushie but also v v thick!

Hi
Have you tried a pocket style? I found these to be slimmer (tho Matthew was quite a bit older when i was trying them on him).

Pocket nappıes lıke fuzzı bunz or bumgenıus are sıgnıfıcantly thınner! I had a wambamboo set when LO was born and the bulk put me off completely - I returned to cloth when he was 5 months and have never looked back

I think it's partly what you come to imagine a nappy should look like from all the disposable ads on tv.

I use Bambino Mio two part nappy system. We tried them on my son when he was about 4 days old even though they looked too bulky but he was fine in them and they worked well - we have used them ever since and now I think he looks odd in a disposable! WhateeeEver!

Bambino Mios are slimmer around the sides than some other washable nappies and we have had no problems with clothes fitting over them, My boy is now 7 weeks old.

Remind him that a slimmer nappy also means a slimmer bank balance!
Also, has he ever seen a wee soaked disposable? - they go on slim but go all big and fat and heavy when wet. Remind him of the benefits to the environment and the lack of chemicals too. Wink

Just to add that pocket nappıes may cost more (around 12 quıd a go). Bumgenıus are an adjustable system whıch means that you only need to buy one lot and they wıll last for the duratıon. Alternatıvely fuzzı bunz are a sızed system so you have to buy dıfferent sızes when you need them (havıng saıd thıs I bought medıums at 5 months and at 14 months he ıs stıll on the same sıze settıngs so I cant ımagıne havıng to buy any larges!)

Agaın I would recommend gettıng a couple to try before you decıde. Ittı bıttıs are SUPER slım but not too sure how they would cope wıth newborn poo.

Its all about fındıng what ıs rıght for you - Once you have theres no goıng back.

lol repod - lucky my oh does his fair share of nappies when home and always does the first one of the day!

am now thinking of waiting till the baby show in london as I expect lots of diff companies will be there with samples we can look at.

i'm so dissapointed with the trial pack I got, the waterproof cover doesn't fit over the nappies! am going to write to them to make a complaint!

I went to the bb show in Birmingham & bought some Totsbots Bamboozles that were on offer - I think they were £5.50 each & wish I'd bought more now! Doh!
I got 2 of their reusable shopping bags too ! lol!
