Subject : finishing work??

Hi all,

Just wondering when people are intending on finishing work. I am still trying to decide. :\?
Am due on 14th Feb and I teach full time at the mo. Think I might work for 1 or 2 weeks in January so will leave when I'm about 35/36 weeks. Just wondered whether that is too early or late? What is everyone else thinking? So tricky because of the pay situation.

Hi,

I am in a tricky situation as I get married on 25th July and we are going to Australia for a month with the baby for honeymoon. Taking that into account I need to take my maternity leave as late as possible so I can tag my holidays onto the end of it so I am planning on working until 30th January, this means that it would be 11 days before LO arrives, I am quite lucky in that my boss allows me to work from home (am doing so today) and is trying to arrange me access to our finance system from home so that if it gets too much I can do most of my work from home.

If LO arrives before 30th January, it means that I will have to go back to work before my honeymoon but my OH is a teacher and normally finishes for the summer the first week in July, he can then have the baby for a few weeks up until the wedding until I finish for annual leave!

Complicated isn't it?! xx

I'm lucky, I get a good maternity package with lots of time off... and I have to take all my 2009 holidays before I go on maternity leave or else get paid for them. Because the package is already good I'll probably go with taking the paid time off...

So I will probably finish work around 17th December and just not go back!! Smile

I've got quite a bit of holiday still to take this year... so if I carry over a few days to next year and take all of my 2009 holiday at the beginning of next year my maternity leave will then start on 16th Feb. Baby is then due on 17th Feb.

Everything changed when I found out it was twins...

I plan to leave at my earliest opportunity now; 28/29 wks is it? I think thats end of November for me, I was going to try and work up until christmas, but I just dont think I will be able to physically, so I probably have the least left to work I guess?

Well, last time I worked up to 2 days before because I felt fine and wanted to keep busy, so hopefully this time round I will do the same. Besides with 2 already at home/school I'm not going to get much rest if I leave work too early anyway. I am only part time and work in an office so working up until my due date isn't too much hardship really. Kate x

Im not too bad my company is closing on 30/09/08 and we are being made redundant so I will finish work on this date. I get an amazing redundancy package and no one will employ me that far gone!!

I have decided today that i want to start my mat leave at 32 weeks.
I already said i would finish at 36 weeks but don't think i could physically do it.

I have 3 weeks annual leave to take before that so will finish at 29 weeks!!

Only 8 weeks to go! Happy

Sorry Girls just realised i jumped forums - thought i was in Jan!! hehe

I am working til 32 weeks then taking a months annual leave so starting mat leave at 36 weeks.
Work are trying to get me to go at 29 weeks though as I have a few complications and they are worried I will go off sick (which they will have to pay me full pay for)!

I intend to leave work on New Years Eve, which is approximately 4.5 weeks before Pip is due to arrive. Therefore, my maternity leave will begin on 2nd January.

I just want a couple of weeks or so to relax before he/she arrives.

xx
