Subject : How do I change formulas?
Hi Ladies
I've been formula feeding my lo for the last 4 and a half weeks (he is now 13 and a half weeks old). I've been using SMA Gold, but after reading a lot of different posts on here about it I would like to switch to Aptimil. Plus, I think the SMA gives my lo tummy ache.
How do I change formulas though? I'm under the impression that you're not supposed to just switch from one to the other - are you supposed to mix them together or switch one of his feeds to the new formula and gradually change all of them? I'm so confused... please help!
Floopy & Ethan

If you are that concerned you can mix 1/2 bottle aptamil and 1/2 bottle original and mix them together. I didn't bother just done every other feed with the new one. (FYI I didn't like aptamil as it gave them the runs so switched to Hipp.)

i have been told two different things... and either way works
you can switch straight away and thats it or just use the new milk every other feed.
but one friend of mine she wanted to find the right formula so she tried a different one each time to get the one that filled up her baby the most and made him happy.... when i did it i just swapped over the next morning straight on to the new formula. try and do it a day that u are going to be at home so that if it doesnt make ur baby full or gives lots of wind or upset belly u dont get to stressed about it...

Hi i'm in Australia and there was some new research released here recently concerning babies tastes.
There was a comparison made to babies toddler/childhood/adult tastes when it comes to new foods and referred to a babies milk type intake.
For example a breastfed baby will taste a range of new flavours depending on what mum eats so a formula fed baby may benefit from a frequent change of formula type to introduce the idea of new flavours before introduction of solids.
I've just tried to find a website with more info but can't get one right now but if you're interested you may be able to find some more info.
Any sudden change in babies diet though will probably result in a change to their output, lol.
Good luck, Shell & Paige
