Subject : OMG I got a second line - BFP!!!!!

OMG I'm so excited and in shock I have to tell people & you lot are the only ones I can (other than hubby!)

So, I'm 16 DPO today and AF still hasn't turned up. MY LP last month was 12 days so this seemed a bit suspect. I had taken a FR early result test on Friday and it was negative - not even a sniff of a second line. I took it on Friday because I had a big weekend ahead with my sister's wedding. So I thought, right sod it then I'll have some booze (oops - 2 glasses of wine on Fri, 2 glasses of wine on Sat, 4 glasses of champers and 2 glasses of wine on Sunday at the wedding!).

So I had been expecting AF on Monday but no show. On tuesday & yesterday there was the tiniest amount of spotting so I thought here we go. But didn't turn into any more and is so little i only notice when I wipe because I am now OCD with checking CM, nothing on my knickers / liner. My temperatures have stayed high as well.

Tonight I'm supposed to be going out for a drink with a friend so I thought I'll just do another test (it was the freebie FR from being one of the first 10 to ask a question on one of the webchats so I had nothng to lose!) - well a second line came up almost immediatley! Its not quite as dark as the test line but very definitely there- i went through to hubby in the other bathroom and said - do you see a second line? - he said yes, looked at the instruction leaflet and said, well that definitely looks like the picture for pregnant!!!

I can't believe it!!! I am SOOOOOO chuffed!!! Hubby doesn't want me to get excited yet but how can i not? I'm going to do a CBD tomorrow to check again but I know a line is a line!

So symptoms - NONE! I feel totally normal. Only thing is I've had a lot of cm during my luteal phase - but then I did have some last month too (maybe not so much though). Other than that literally nothing.

Dilemma though - what shall i do about this drink tonight? I suggested it & it's with a colleague - we usually share a bottle of wine. Shall i tell her I double booked or that I can't drink for some reason- she'll be very suspect. Hubby doesn't want me to tell her the truth. Suggestions please!

ps I hope this gives hope to people with dodgy cycles. Here are my charts - you can see this months where I get the BFP (and BFN on Fri) and if you scroll down you'll see my horrendous 122 day cycle last month!

Oh yeah the other thing I always want to know -did I do anything different? Well I've been having acupuncture and taking herbal tea (made by the acupuncturist) and I've been sleeping with an eye patch to aid 'lunaception'. I think that's it! LOL!

Wow I'm on Cloud 9, cant stop smiling!!! Happy

ps Not sure about what to tell your friend, you could use the antibiotics excuse but it might be too obvious if they suspect you're ttc? x

Really happy for you, think you will give the others with long cycles so much hope x

Congratulations moomin!
I have idea of what to tell your friend - Tell her that you have cystitis (a little tmi but a good excuse!) and that you shouldn't drink as this can lead to a kidney infection (this has actually happened to me in the past). I suppose it depends on how well you know her though.
Congrats again!

Thanks so much for all your lovely messages :)

Robin - I had the same idea, funnily enough a week or 2 ago we were discussing this & I said i get kidney infections really easily (which is true, althugh only had cystitis once!). I thought this would be a good one as also I'll be needing to go to the docs - so 2 birds 1 stone!!!

thanks xxx

congratulations hun!!!
the antibiotics excuse is a good one if you know the details. A tooth infection is good if you are taking antibiotic called metronidazole as even one drink can make you violently sick, plus if you need time off its for repeat dentist trip.
Good luck and sticky babydust

Hey moomin - this is SO exciting - congratulations and have a happy, healthy pregnancy.

I think the tooth infection excuse is also the best - my friend used it with me and I didn't suspect, despite knowing she was ttc.

Co-incidently I was browsing through general chat last night and realised we were fellow fat knackers on You and Your Wedding (I'm Mrs etobe)!!!! Unless of course I've got you mixed up with another moomin - then just ignore me I'm crazy!!! I'm over in long-term ttc now (long story) but will be checking up on how your pregnancy's going.
