Subject : Do you still use a highchair?

Just wondering what everyone else's views are.
My lo is 21 months old and we still use a high chair to give himm his meals. I find it's ok for us. He doesn't mind going in and it stops him getting up and walking off in the middle of his dinner. It's also height adjustable so we can remove the tray and pull him upto the table to eat with us.
Of course my mil has a different opinion!!! She thinks he should be just sat on a normal chair. Well for 1 he's not big enough to reach the table and for 2 he just gets off and disappears!! But you know how it is - she knows best.
Oh doesn't really say much. Typical.

My daughter is the same age and wouldn't dream of sitting her on a chair, she would just get up and would never eat anything. I will use a highchair until i'm certain she will sit on a chair and not keep getting up. Just do what you think is right, after all you would know better than anyone, if your lo isn't ready keep usig the highchairxx

Millie sits ok on a normal chair and sometimes does when we are out but she wouldn't be able to reach the table at home! Our high chair is a bit like a Trip Trap, it has no tray and pulls up to the table so it's no different from her sitting on a big chair anyway. Tell your mil to sod off!

my little girl will be 3 in october and i still put her in a high chair!
she will not sit still to eat in a normal chair, and it gives me a rest to keep her trapped in there while i eat!
i have tried the normal chairs - but its stressful, and gives me indegestion...as far as i am concerned my angel will be eating in her chair til she don't fit any more!
;)

my lo still uses her highchair and i can treally see her coming out of it any time soon. like you have all said if i sat her on a chair she wouldnt sit long enough to eat anything. i am hoping to get to ikea this week for one of there cheap ones so that she can sit up at the table rather than using the tray. ours is very big and wont fit under the table. my friends lo used to love his highchair and she had to convince him to come out of it when he was 3 so that she didnt have to buy another for her youngest. i really dont see what the rush is to make them grow up and use adult things. they are children after all.xx

hiya, my lo is 20months now and if we sit at the table i get his car seat out of the car and put on one of the big chairs as his highchair is too big to go at the table he loves it and doesnt know the difference. he also goes and sit in the car seat when he is hungry. it straps him in and he loves feeding himself (hes only just started that and its very messy) hth
