Subject : Anyone else working or worked upto their due date?
Hi
I'm 30 weeks pregnant now and decided to work up to my due date. I just wondered how others managed or are managing? It seemed like a good idea at the time but now I'm a little worried as to how I will cope and is it practical? I work in an office and manage 20 clients helping them get back to work so not too active just a lot of jumping up and down out of my chair to help people at the computers but I drive half an hour to work and home again obviously. Now just worried about going into labour at work if bub comes early! Are you ok to drive while having early contractions? This is my second baby but had elective c-section last time so didn't go into labour so have no idea what it feels like!
Dawn 30weeks
xx

With my frst lo I worked till 2 weeks before due date and ended up being 12 days late and was really bored twiddiling my thumbs at home. This time I have taken two weeks before due date again - to spend some quality time with my first (she says while her sons in the nursery and he's on the computer t home we want him to keep going to nursery so it's not so hard when I go back to work)
I also work in an office but I must admit I found it a lot harder this time round to work so late as I was feeling a lot more tired my boss's went away for a month and left me to it so that probably was part of the problem too. My first two weeks maternity leave were acctually holiday so I only started maternity leave yesterday.
Good Luck don't over tire yourself out like I did what about doing less hours in your last weeks?
:)

I worked until April 30th & had my son 11th may 2007. I was 2 weeks early as I was enduced (diabetic) but had also took 2 weeks hols prior to my actual leave date. I found it ok but I work from home so no travel, if I had been getting a train 2 times a day I would have left much earlier.
Obviously you only have a 30 minutes drive & are not doing very physical work so I would say take it one day at a time & if you have any annual leave left & start to struggle then either finish early using your AL or start taking a day or two off a week until your leave date to give you some rest days.

With my first I worked until 1 day before I had her. I don't know what I will do this time. I don't get maternity pay, so I'll probably work as long as I can stand it.

Hi everyone, I'm glad this topic has come up.
I was feeling abit down because everyone seem to be leaving work early but i need to work until due date as need the money.
Does anyone know if you can work PAST the due date? I think you can but my midwide says that she recommends giving up at 38 weeks at the latest but if the baby is 2 wks late i would have been sitting at home for a month on reduced pay. I'd rather have more money the other side of maternity.
Plus i think i would be bored...i'd just be waiting for the baby. Midwife says that i need to save my energy for labour etc..but i still think i'll work right up.

I wanted to take annual leave to my due date but my boss thought i'd be easier if i stopped a week before incase the baby arrived i think you've got to take you're maternity leave from the day your baby's born and not be on annual leave.
I found it a bit boring with my first cause i was induced 12 days late so was sitting around for 28 days i wanted to go back to work - it is good to have some time to yourself though!

I left work 6 days before my due date last time round and am having a huge 12 days off before this baby is born. I took the view last time that time spent at home waiting for the baby to come was a waste of precious leave because I could only afford to be off for a little while.
this time I am having a bit longer but only because I have to drive 5 miles to work on what are quite hilly and bad roads and the baby is due on Christmas Eve. I don't want to be caught on the back lanes in the car in the dark and then go into labour or have to walk home! Also I will have my daughter off school the week before so it makes sense to be off then so I don't have to pay for child care.
You can be fat and uncomfortable and bored at work and get paid and have longer on the other side or be fat, bored and uncomfortable at home, and start eating into your time off and money without your baby. I think as long as your job doesn't require too much time on your feet and you are ok travelling, its a fairly easy decision if you are healthy.

Hi everyone again,
Well i think i'm going to stick to my orginal plan and work until i pop as long as i'm healthy etc...
In some ways it should be ok..i work at a school...private so no additional maternity benefits and we break up on the 16th Dec. Baby is due the 15th so if i do go over it will only be 1 more day at work. Have told them that i'll work until i pop so i can get my usual pay over the xmas hols until the baby is due. Just so didn't want to be off and getting reduced pay when its money i'd normally be receiving anyway!
Its nice to chat to others who are working so close to due date...i don't feel so left out :) xx
