I am not medical expert but I always thought the pill was to be taken on day 1 of your period...

I didnt know till the birth of my third child that u could go on the pill whenbaby was 21 days old and it be effective straight away...

Anyways the name of oyur pill sounds similar to mine will go and check in a minute then maybe I can relate to you a bit more x

Have u tried to search it online

hiya...sorry it is not the same as mine.. mine is the mini pill called micronor... but have I have found the following....

When can I start taking it?

Ideally, you should start taking this pill on day one of your menstrual cycle (the first day of your period). This will protect you from pregnancy immediately and you won't need to use any additional methods of contraception. If necessary, you can also start taking it up to day five of your cycle without needing to use additional contraception when you start. However, if you have a short menstrual cycle (with your period coming every 23 days or less), starting as late as the fifth day of your cycle may not provide you with immediate contraceptive protection. You should talk to your doctor or nurse about this and whether you need to use an additional contraceptive method for the first seven days.

You can also start taking this pill at any other time in your cycle if your doctor is reasonably sure that you are not pregnant. However, if you start taking this pill at any other time in your cycle, you won't be protected from pregnancy straight away and you will need to use additional contraception, eg condoms (or not have sex) for the first seven days of pill taking.

If you have given birth and are not breastfeeding, you can start taking this pill on day 21 after the birth. You will be protected against pregnancy immediately and do not need to use extra contraception. If you start taking it later than 21 days after giving birth, you will need to use extra contraception for the first seven days.

I went into google and searched Microgynon 30 and it came up with stuff... the link I got the above text from is
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001653.html

hopefully that will work....

I would suggest you go and see the doctor as you may be suffering from side affects.. maybe phone NHS direct on 0845 46 47 and see what they suggest...as I wouldnt really like to say either way...

Sorry I coldnt help either way
Good Luck

Hi I was on Microgynon before I was pregnant and then I went back on it again after I had my daughter. I started this on the 1st day of my period so I am not sure what could be wrong.

hi,

can't really answer you question but here's my experience of this pill - it may help you -

my periods were a nightmare b4 i started it - my stomach cramps were hurrendous and there were many times when i would feel as if i were about to pass out!

this pill was like a god send to me - it regulated my cycles - it shortened my periods and my cramps were minimal.

since stopping it in apr 08 - i bled for around 4 days, then nothing, then dark brown cm 4 a few days which turned into af which lasted for around 2 weeks.

i also noticed that aroun 2 weeks b4 af i would get really sore boobs - this would last for around 5 days, the id get stomach cramps (no where near as bad as b4 i took the pill but a little worse now i've stopped - then af would arrive.

i'm on cd34 though now and not had sore boobs - only 1 occassion where nipples were senisitive when touched. had stomach cramps again today so waiting for af to arrive. (these aren't signs im pg either - we're not ttc until nov/dec 08.

Don't know what can be causing you to have these pains. get it checked out. Laso dont know about starting again on day 5.

As for the pill itself unlike the other girls I have been on this pill since 16 (am now 35). I have had no side effects whatsoever. Period pains whilst using are mimimal. When I first came off to try for number one I fell pregnant after one cycle ( which came straight away). With number two it took 6 months (although unfortunately mc). Later fell pregnant 4 months later and I am due for section in two days time.

Each person is different and different pills suit different people which is why there are so many types out there and why doctors monitor you also for potential side effects.

Hope you get the prob sorted.
xx

I took this as the first pill I had and I was sick for a couple of days every time I started a new pack, I was also NOT interested in sex and felt huge :\(
so I changed and now it's much better.

As someone said, everyone is different and it affects them in different ways but if you're not happy go back to your GP, there are loads of different types out there and although it's a pain you will be able to find one that suits you.

I'm now on Cerazette (because I was breastfeeding) and have had no probs.

Sorry you've not have had many positive answers about this pill and mine is not one either as I fell preg with identical twins whilst on this pill so be careful! I am now fitted with a Mirena IUS which is great and haven't have a period since I got pregnant (my twins are 15 months old) saved a small fortune on tampons!!

Go back to your GP if you are worried as it could be something like excess acid built up overnight, in which case gaviscon will help as well as eating as soon as you get up

Hope you get it sorted x

hi, if you read the leaflet in with the pack it says to inform doctor straight away if you start getting headaches and you shouldnt be on this pill if you suffer mirgraines either. it is an awful pill! i fell pregnant with my LO whilst taking this, never missed on or anything but now i am having alot of trouble ttc no 2! it may me gain 3 stone in a matter of months and hubby said i was like living with the devil!if i were you i would go back and ask her reasoning behind the 5 day thing coz i always thought day 1 was when you start taking new pill and i would also ask to been chnaged pill, there are hundreds of different pills so stand your ground. apparently the pill you have been given is a cheaper pill hence y so many people are given it.

I like others dont have a very positive story about ths pill either, whilst taking the pill i dint have any side effects, infact it made my periods lighter and less painful, but i did fall pg twice whilst taking this pill. The first time, nearly 4 years ago (we decided not to continue with the pg) and again last year, when my daughter was 4 mnths old, as a result of which we now have a gorgeous son, Joe... who is 4 weeks old. Things happen for a reason and we would not be without joe, he's an angel, but just be careful whilst taking this pill... i never missed one, and always took them on a morning after brushing my teeth. I would never take this pill again, and i'm going to have an implant fitted after my 6 week check. So be careful ladies....

Katie, mummy to Erin 13mnths and Joe, 4 weeks. x
