Subject : At what stage do you meet your midwife?
Am 22 wks pg and have not yet met a midwife I have only been assigned to a group. Had my 20 wk scan on Monday and have been told to go for a gluecose test on 3 Oct...other than that I am just going to see my GP every 4 weeks. I feel really detatched from the hospital and don't really know what happens or when I should be meeting people...anyone else had the same thing or do you not meet them til later on in pregnancy?

Hiya
Where are you from?? I find it odd that you haven't met a midwife yet?!
I too am assigned to a team of midwifes and I met the first one from them when I was 12 weeks at a booking in appointment I had.
I then saw a midwife every 4 weeks at my gp surgery and now that I am further on I see her every two weeks.
Have you got a contact number for your midwife team? Maybe give them a call and share your concerns

Im due to be giving birth at the West Middlesex in Isleworth..the midwife that took my bloods at 10 weeks wasn't part of the team I have been assigned to and then we had our 12 wk scan at a different hospital with it being a nuchal scan other than that I have only been to the hospital for the 20 wk scan and am being sent to a local clinic for the glucose test. I have been going to my GP off my own back but am not seeing a midwife there either.
I think you are right, give them a call and see what they say...i also find it a bit strange that I haven't met anyone yet. A girl I work with is also at West Mids and she seems to be having the same issues.

That is really odd!!!
A GP isnt qualified to be seeing a pregnant woman throughout the whole of her pregnancy hence the fact we have midwifes LOL. I remember when i went to see a GP about fainting once and he didnt have a clue about where to find the babys heartbeat!!! It was quite worrying lol..
Like clare said i would get in touch with someone and ask why you are not seeing a midwife, maybe wires got crossed somewhere? x x x
