Subject : What a nightmare!
My LO is ten months old and is sometimes a real devil to feed. She mostly loves her food and eats a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, pasta etc but sometimes (i think related to teething) she just wont eat what i give her for her evening meal. I know however that if i offer her something else e.g her favourite which is jacket potato, cheese and beans she'll eat it. I just wondered what everyone's opinion is on whether i should just offer her what I've made and if she doesn't eat it put her to bed without anyhting else or whether i should offer her what i know she'll eat. I don't want her living on potato and beans for dinner and i don't want her to think that she's getting her own way. But I also don't want her to go to bed hungry (she sleeeps 7pm-8am). She's also really gone off breast feeding and only feeds in the morning and last thing at night, but even these feeds she's now fussing over and not really interested. She's doesn't drink much else, just a bit of water and occasional sips of cow's milk (never had formula so not gonna give it now!). Therfore am also worried bout her milk intake aswell! The good news is that she would eat cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has lots of milk on her cereal in the morning but i still don't feel it's enough. Any opinions welcome....x

I wouldn't worry too much about her milk intake. Millie stopped bf at about that age and wouldn't allow a drop of either cows milk or formula to pass her lips. My hv said not to worry, just make sure she got plenty of chese, yoghurt etc. If it were me I would probably encourage her to try new things but at the end of the day if she'll only eat jacket potatoe, chesee and beans then so be it! At least she isn't insisting on chips and burger every night. Millie goes through phases of being really fussy and they usually pass, she'll try anything if her dad is eating it so it might be worth you trying to eat with her if you can.

Hi there. My LO is 15 months old now and it became very obvious early on that a large meal at tea time was not his thing. He will eat fruit toast and cereal for b/fast, just about anything you put in front of him for lunch and then throw all on the floor for tea. What we do now is let him eat us out of house and home til lunch then just offer him healthy snacks thru the afternoon and a bottle of milk before bed. The handy thing is, if we find him wanting a meal later it's a sure sign of a growth spurt. If your lo is still putting on weight and isn't waking in the night when they don't normally don't worry.
