Subject : Is anyone using Colief drops in babies milk?
Hi mummies,
I just wanted to know if any one is using colief drops in ther babies milk. My lo has colic quite bad. I used infacol first few wks, then moved onto gripe water. But in the last few wks she has got alot worse, and I hate seeing her in pain. We went to see gp, she gave us dentanox for her colic, which you have to giv her with this huge seringe, but she spat the whole lot out and puked all her milk. We then tried putting it in her milk, but she wudnt drink it, it was like she new it was in ther.
The gp told us to cum bak after a wk, if the dentanox didnt work, she said she will prescribe colief drops, which Ive heard are really good. So wer going to hopefully get them tomorow.
So do they work, how long does it take, and wer your babies happier after you started using these drops.
Any advice welcome.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that your lo has colic - my lo had colic bad too and it is so hard!!! We used colief and found this to be the best.
Basically it breaks down the lactose in the milk before you feed it to your lo. Some babies have an intolerence to lactose for the first few months and thats what can cause colic. There bowels don't produce the enzymes to brake it down thus causing the cramps and wind etc.
You add it to the milk, either in advance or as you make it up and thats it. We found that it worked after a day or so. We didn't really find it until our lo was 8 or 9 weeks but tried everything else. Our lo grew out of the colic at 15 weeks.
I hope it works for you as nothing else did for my lo.

Hi,
I tried Colief when my baby was about 8 weeks old as we were having problems with Colic and he was really uncomfortable. Unfortunately I found that this did not work for us. I changed his milk to the Cow & Gate Comfort formula. It also meant having to buy new teats as the formula is thicker, but he improved almost instantly. I wish that I had changed to this earlier as felt really guilty!! It is a real nightmare when all you can do is try different things. He is now 6 months old and doing really well. Hope this helps as I know everyone has different experiences.

Hi naz James will be 7 weeks on mon and at around 3 weeks he started with colic at around 7pm til 10 he was really unsettled but the rest of the day he is fine so spoke to the hv and she said he sounds colicky and said try gripe water, so we tried the gripe water didnt work, dentinox dint work and the infacol only slightly helped for a week or 2 so spoke to hv again and as James is on c&g milk so said to try c&g comfort and colief which we did and what a difference he isnt completly better but its managable and he is more settled, the milk is more expensive and the colief costs 9.99 but i would pay anything to help him, but you are lucky getting it on prescription as the bottles is only small hope it helps.

Hi
I started using Colief a few weeks ago & it has changed our evenings completely. We went for hours of crying to a very contented baby. It is a pain to use but I found it to be well worth it. It worked after the first use.
Good luck!

Hi Naz
Ive been using Colief for about a week now and it seems to have done the trick. My littlin is nine weeks and he was full of wind and not a great burper. So hes on a combination of Infacol and Colief. Make sure you get it on perscription though as its not cheap.

Hi ladies,
Well we went to the doctors today, and she gave us colief on prescription. Im really hoping it works. Did you put it in all of your babies bottles, and even the night time feeds?
She had her first injetions aswell, she didnt even cry. Am so proud of her.

Hi yeah you have to put in every single bottle and you cant just stop it you have to gradually reduce the dose around 12 weeks.
