Subject : Measuring milk - different in Europe??

When I bought a tin of milk powder in Germany it said on the back of it how to make up the milk.

Example: 180 ml of water + 6 scoops of powder = 210 ml milk (7 oz)

Now, when I want to make up 7 oz of milk, I measure out 7 oz of water and add 7 scoops of milk powder. Is this what you do as well???
Of course, what you then end up with is more than 7 oz of liquid, but the actual substance (milk powder) is still only 7 scoops. Is this your understanding too?
I know that advice differs from country to country and I have never given this too much thought, but now that my little one is on solids I want her to get the correct amount of milk, which should be 500 ml a day. (Although, I'm reading different numbers again depending on where I look!)

Which 'measuring system' are you using? I don't know how the maths can be different depending on where you are in the world!!

I make up 8 oz of water with 8 scoops of powder. Thats what it says on my tin of milk. It does look like 9oz when its shook up, but I always assumed this was a 8oz bottle?!

Hi,

I live in Norway and some of the formula out here has that method for measuring out how much milk it makes.

I would say that whatever the bottle has in it once you have made it up is how much you are giving your lo. i.e. if you put 7oz of water in and 7 scoops of powder and the bottle then reads 8oz then you are giving your lo 8oz of milk.

Either way the main thing is you check the box and make it up at the right strength. x
