Subject : What would you do, opinions and advice appreciated
Ok, without being too morbid and going into too much detail I am starting to want a selected c-section. Last year I went into labour at 23 wks with twins and gave birth to them naturally. One passed away straight away and the other survived 10 wks. I am praying that we will go full term this time, but am starting to panic about going in that room again to give birth. If you had a choice, how many of you would choose a c-section? Have any of you had previous c-sections? Any advice would be so appreciated.

Hi
so sorry to hear about your losses.
For me it would be an elective c sec next time, as I had one the first time as an emergency after much faffing and 36hour labour.
at least with an elective you're more n control of everything, your oh can be there with you and the recovery isnt that bad (I know it is major surgery but i had a similar op the year before c sec and my recovery from c sec was far far easier)
Have you talked to your MW about your fears? Are they any help?

I'm so sorry for what you've been thru :( I'm surprised they allowed you to give birth naturally at 23 weeks. My oh mum & another woman I know had babies at 29 weeks (luckily both lived and are healthy 3 y/o and 23 y/o now) and an emergency section was done immediately. Personally I have to say I'd opt for the elective section but its 100% your choice. The outcome for your twins was probably not affected by how they were born, so please don't be afraid if you do choose a natural birth, but at the same time, dont be ashamed to ask about an elective c-sect - you've been thru a lot and anyone could understand your fears. I had a section with my baby (emergency, though really it was just a case of him being stuck!) and it was fine. The scar does feel a bit sore but they give you pain killers in hospital that deal with that. I was up and walking as soon as my spinal anaesthetic wore off, and was back to myself pretty soon. xxx

Tuppence,
Sorry to hear your staory, I had no idea............
Will they give you a c -section ? Other than if natural delivery puts you or baby at risk.
My friend had a c-section in May and and was really frustrated about the restrictions afterwards.......no driving for 6 weeks ...etc
I know labour is scary, but for 24 hrs (-ish) of natural labour v's potential loss of freedom afterwards / scarring...etc
Think we are due around the same time (dec 28th), here's hoping you get to your 40 weeks and delivery the perfect precious baby.
