Subject : Very touchy Subject..VERY
The subject is : PRO or CON abortion.
This is a very touchy, sensitive subject, and is not to offend anyone.
If you use stories as examples of how you feel, leave names OUT. No cursing and absolutely no fighting.
Everyone has their own opinions about this and because its such a touchy subject, we can be very passionate about our opinions and can start a fight.
So what is it..
Are you Pro or Con abortion and why?

If this is about you, you need some unbiased advice from a professional. Why not make an appointment with your GP or at a family planning clinic so you can get a referral to someone who can give you all the fact. Good luck.

I myself, am *con*.
I have been in a situation where abortion could have been an option.
Out here before you considder it, or actually do it, or get tested, they have you watch videos on abortion.
When I went to get tested with my 1st, waiting for the results on whether or not I was going to be a mommy, they had me watch videos of women who had abortions, and what happens to your body and mental well beings. So sad. It scared me for life.
I know a few girls who had abortions. One happens to be super close to me. She has never spent a day not regretting it. She rubs her empty belly (she would be pregnant now) she cries, she is in total shock still.. Another girl I know.. Well used to know, can't have anymore babies becuase of the abortion. Complications.. You can imagine how she feels. And one girl had an abortion, (Christian like myself) prays everyday for the Lord to forgive her. She has 2 children now and always thinks of what could've been. She feels she can never forgive herself or the Lord.
I have a handful of friends who try and try to concieve, and can't. What they would give to have a baby..

i dont agree with abortions but i think its up to the person whether they are ready or not when i tested with my little girl i was pushed into it by my family and oh's family to have an abortion went and had all the tests done and date booked but i just knew it wasnt right so i didnt go along with it and now im so glad i didnt i think if you want the child in your heart then keep it but if its just going to be brought up into a nasty enviroment then an abortion is best as no child should suffer because of their parent no offence to people dont take it offencisively but people who have had severual (sp) abortions should use some kind of protection so it is provented as there are lots of people like a friend of mine who would kill for a baby and there just wasting a preious live x

I personally couldnt have an abortion, I dont think my conscious would let me. With my now 9 month old his dad wanted me to have an abortion and i booked for one but it wasnt what i wanted and im so glad i didnt now..i look at him and wonder what my life would be without him. However it is each to their own and everyone has their own mind to chose whats best for them at that particular time in their life.

i beleive each to their own, however, i do think the abortion laws need to be changed with regards to the gestational age at wihch a person can abort, i think it should be lowered to at least 16weeks.
i feel that as a young mum if i did not have the support of my partner there is a strong chance i would seriously have considered an abortion, however lucily for me that was not the case. A few of my friends have aborted in early stages and i dont think any less of them for doing so, i think it is right that if you dont think you would be able to raise a child properly and lovingly then it could be best all round. x

Hi i am pro choice.I had an abortion when i was 18 at 10 weeks. Not a nice experience but i do not regret it one bit, i wouldnt have the lovely family i have now if i'd continued that pregnancy. I understand why some people oppose abortion especially at a very late stage however i wonder how the out and out pro lifers would plan to support the 100'sof 1000's of unwanted children that would be born into society, were abortion to be outlawed altogether? x

An abortion was something that me and the oh were discussing when I fell pregnant with number 2 we have a small house with a big mortgage are both self emplyed and oh has a 12 year old we have at weekends I couldn't believe that I had fallen pregnant the only thing we were planning was the snip for him!!
Well it turned out I couldn't even say the word to the doctor when I went and realised that I was listening to my head and not my heart when I told my oh what happened he then sighed relief and felt the same I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and can't believe it even crossed my mind!!
The only time i disagree with abortion is when it's used as a contrception you hear alot of woman going for more than 1 I think this needs to be addressed as it must have a huge complications later on in life going for more than 1!!

im against it. it never crossed my mind when i was pregnant with my lo and alot of my friends assumed i would have one because i was always the one out partying but its not me and yes i lost my bf in the running but that doesnt matter.
my husbands ex girlfriend had an abortion and THEN told him which i think was very very unfair. he would never had made her keep the baby if its not what she wanted but i still think it needed to be talked about by both people involved. this has now made my husband so wary about trying for a baby as he says he could never go through losing another baby, naturaly or otherwise.
i have seen what abortion does to men aswell as a very close(girl) friend who recently had one. i dont think any less of her as its her life but now she is longing to have her baby here with her and she always talks about lying at home bleeding for 6 weeks holding her best friends hand crying her eyes out. she never was a reglious person but shes prays to god everyday for forgiveness.
When i found out i was pregnant with my lo, i went to one of these "help" centres. the woman there said and i quote "dont go around telling anyone your pregnant becoz your probably want an abortion coz your only 19 and have to rest of your life ahead of you, and what on earth are your parents going to say!" i think its people like this that scare people into it when all most women/girls need is a supportive person to listen to them and help them make descions. needless to say i made a quick exit from there and would never return!

i am pro choice too, definately. However do you not think that if abortion were generally banned that there would be more people using contraception as they then wouldnt have the option to abort as a form of contraception instead? maybe it would make people think more carefully?

I dont think so,i just think it would force more women in to illegal, backstreet abortions which would have sad concequences. Its the same as all smokers know its bad for them and might well kill them but very few give up. I just think that itd be the same case if abortion were banned,i dont think itd make a massive reduction in unwanted pregnancies. But then maybe it would make some women who have had several abortions wake up and smell the coffee. Who knows?

im pro choice it is up to the person to know if they can or can't i must admit i would have one if anything was wrong with my baby as i don't feel they have a good life if they are exteremly disabled and it would be selfish to put my want onto my child if they won't have a good standard of living.
i don't mean any offence just giving my view do please don't take any as i know this is a touchy subject

i agree that it would do just as much harm as good, i think more would think twice about using it as contraception but i agree it would almost def. cause more probs with illegal backstreet abortion clinics, where the result would be far worse/more dangerous.

I'm 19 & 8+3, never even considered an abortion! I personally could never put myself through it!! One of my close friends had an abortion, & a couple of months later fell pregnant "by mistake" again! I think she just couldnt cope with what she had lost, because she wanted the baby, but her partner & mum convinced her to have the abortion! She now has a beautiful 2 month old baby, and is a fab mum!
I think people who are not able to cope with a child, money wise etc.. should always consider adoption, there are plenty of people out there who can't have children & long to be parents.
But as said in previous post, it is every person to there own. I also think the limit should be changed to 16 weeksish!

i wouldnt say abortion was wrong, it depends on the situation, im 17 and 37+5 with my first, and i considered abortion and my circumstances led me to believe it was the right thing to do, but when i found out that i was already 12 weeks gone (i know stupid of me not to notice) i just couldnt go through with it!
my mum is now fully supporting me both emotionally and financially, as father decided he couldnt cope! i wouldnt look down on anyone who had an abortion, everything just depends on that person at that time, and girls have to remember that they shouldnt let anyone else influence their decision, not even their OH!

I lost a baby at 12 weeks, i had to go to theatre for a DC and when i left the hospital i was beside myself as i felt i left something behind. And for me for that to be someones choice disgusts me. i had no choice as the baby had no heartbeat.
As for abortions to be allowed after 20weeks rattles me as my baby niece was born at 28 weeks and she is doing amazingly! and i know of babies who survived earlier than that.
SO i am against abortion.
( this is my feelings on it)

I understand that and feel for you both regarding your loss. To an extent i agree, however, i think not only would a ban or circumstancial ban cause a rise in dangerouse and illegal backstreet abortion clinics but it would also lead to a rise in the number of children born and unwanted, this in turn would lead to a rise in child cruelty, neglect, murder etc. As horrible as it is to think of either scenario would it be right to allow that to happen, no child deserves that either. Its a shame we live in such a sad sad world. x

I think if the law only allowed abortion as a result of rape then you'd find a sudden rise in the number of innocent men getting accused of something they didnt do
