Hi,

I jhave heard that by panting when the babies head is crowning rather than pushing you can avoid tearing and its slightly less traumatic, Has anyone had any experience of this? I had a section with my last and am really hoping that I can have a vbac this time so have no experience of crowning at all as my daughet got stuck in my pelvis.

Do you have to tell the MW who is delivering you/put it in your birth plan? I don't want to seem like I am telling them their job but I would like to make this experience my own as much as I can and really want to limit the amount of pressure I put on my section scar and letting head emerge naturally without force seems nicer to me.

What are everyones thoughts?

K xx

Hi Hun,

Your midwife will tell you when the babys head is crowning and they will tell you to stop pushing and start panting. They will do their best to stop you from having any more pain than is necessary.

I hope everything goes well for you, take care...x

i agree with twonklemum, your midwife will tell you. this is because once the babys head gets to a certain point, there is nothing you can do to stop it coming out!! thats why you pant, to stop you pushing, because you dont need to. the head comes out after the widest point on its own. midwifes will not let you push when ur crowning so dont worry!! just enjoy a truely magical experience!! xxxx
