hi. i was just wondering what your partners were like during the birth? mines abit of a donut, a really soft centered one but a donut all the same. i nearly passed out earlier and he just stood there looking panic stricken and didnt say a word. it pulled me round in the end cos i was laughing at him. i was just want to tell him what his duties are and whats expected of him when the big heave ho comes.

Mine was brilliant. He is usually bad tempered, impatient, and a stubborn git!!! So I was dreading the birth and what he'd be like, but he was great, even let me squeeze his hand during contractions and held me. I do think he was getting a bit bored towards the end but I did have a very long labour. He was there when I went in for my c-section and held my lo as soon as he was born. x

Hubby normally panics but is great when I'm in labour - he's very encouraging and I lean on him. Usually I normally dig my nails in his hand / almost squeeze it off LOL but didn't have chance last time as bubs came too quick LOL I said it's payback for my pain.
I'm sure you're partner will be fine - get him to help with your breathing etc.
All the best.

My midwife said it was best to write your birth plan with what you want your oh duties to be... where you want him to be what sort of things you want him to do ...mopping brow with cold flannel??
And make sure that he reads your birth plan so he completely understands what you want during your labour in case your not able to relay what you want!
I think antinatel classes also helped my oh understand a bit more as well.
Good luck... he'll be fine I think they all surprise us some how!

I best not let him see this because his head will grow even bigger than what it actually is. lol. I couldn't have wished for a better birth partner than my own partner. He was so good during the first few hours with the dilating and kept me amused so time past a bit quicker. When i needed medication he ran around like a crazy chicken to get someone to come and give me some. Even when i was pushing our son out and the midwives were saying he could look, he still stayed with me and gave me drink and mopped my head with a flannel and i will never forget the moment our son was born and i saw the tear coming down his face. I asked him if he was pleased to meet his son and he said to me he was just so glad i was no longer in pain. That was the first time i ever saw my partner cry and as much as i didn't want to it set me off too. Shame he does my head in at the moment. lol. Got this one to come now and i hope he's as good during this one as he was with our son. xxx
