ha ha, yes its all part of the "joys" of parenting, I used to take about an hour or so to stroll round the supermarket and do a weekly shop just for the 2 of us, now 4 children later and I can do a weekly shop for the 6 of us in about 30 mins, It is a nightmare and I hate it, must admit though taking a bad of raisins or the little rice cakes is a life saver.

i alwaya take my daughter and ask her to "push2 the trolly for me (from sitting in the seat) and we always go and get a french stick of bread and she has the end to eat whilst we are going round. i know some parents dont like to see children eating around the supermarket but i dont want my daughter upset for the sake of a small bit of bread! (and its no-one elses business )

totally agree iwantanothrpls, before I had children I used to say that no way would I ever give my children stuff to eat in the trolley. Oh how those words have come back to haunt me lol. What difference does it make to anyone if you give your lo the end of a french stick or a few rice cakes out of a pack if it means they are happy and you get to shop in peace. The only thing that still bugs me is if you see kids eating grapes or a banana etc that havent yet been paid for as you cant pay for them once they have been eaten as they cant be weighed.

Morning ladies- I thought Tom had reached this stage early but guess not by your posts. He's 15 months and neither of the supermarkets in my town have straps in the trolley so he has discovered when he's had enough he can just climb out. I also swore I would never give food in the trolley but I do!!
Yesterday he kept kicking his welly off but when I threw it in the trolley he screamed until I put it back on then repeated this 10 times aarrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhh

I've shopped on line a bit too because of my 22 month olds strops. She cries and ask for juice or biscuit when she see me putting it in the trolly. I would love to get though a shop with out opening a juice bottle or a packet of crisps but i do this too keep her quiet or she screams the place down.

i do my food shopping online too, in fact just waiting for it to arrive at the moment!
it's so much easier than taking my children to the supermarket and knowing that they'll either have a tantrum, get fed up and grumpy, try to climb out, get hungry or do a poo and need changing half way round!
i have 2 children, one who's 3 in september and the other's 8 months, it's sometimes hard work getting a trolley that will fit them both in, some people just grab any trolley and they don't even have kids with them, someone who needs it could be using that, it makes me mad!!
i can't see me ever going to a supermarket with my kids again, it will only get worse for me as i'm 14 + 3 with number 3! whoever thought of online supermarket shopping needs a big medal, it might be nearly £5 a week to get it delivered but that's a small price to pay!

see, it would be worth it then for you to do online supermarket shopping too! tbh i do a lot of my shopping online, not just from the supermarket, i get really anxious going anywhere busy on my own with my 2 as i know we're not going to get round the shops without a major fuss from at least one of them and usually both.
alex, the youngest, refuses to sleep in his pram when we're out, even if he's exhausted, he'll just fall straight asleep when we're back in the car on the way home and before that he'll whinge all the way around the shops. casper, the oldest, is usually good but lately he's been starting with tantrums and fake crying as he thinks it will get him his own way, think he's having a delayed case of the terrible 2s!
i usually wait until i need a few things and then order all at once and try to get them from the same online shop so i'm not paying so many different delivery charges, crazy i know, but so much easier for me right now!

too right Hayleys1, they would be giving us even filthier looks if our lo's were screaming the shop down in temper. I went for a coffee yesterday with a friend who's little girl is 2, Isaac was being very vocal in the high chair, shouting mummy and bic (biscuit) over and over again, even when he had a biscuit, the bloke on the next table commented about how noisy he was and sat reading his book with his fingers in his ears!!!! WTF is that about, if you want to read your book in total silence then do it at home not in a public coffee shop.

I went to the supermarket with my girl [2] a couple of weeks ago and very quickly realised why I shop online, sooooooo much easier. She even says 'hello ocadoman' when he knocks on the door. I love love love getting my shopping delivered. There's just no need to put yourself through all that trauma!

I was really like that when I had my first, I was always really worried about people judging me if he kicked off for whatever reason, now I dont care, if people want to stare then they can. They are thinking one of a few things, either they dont have children and have no idea what it is like so have no right to judge and anyway when they do have children all those bad thoughts and comments will come back to haunt them ha ha ha, or their children are so old now that they were bought up in the days when children were seen and not heard, or finally they are looking at you with total sympathy and thinking "thank goodness its someone elses turn today".

totally agree hayley. i went to see my dad and stepmum in cyprus recently and it was the first time ive ever been bothered about joseph behaving in public.
my stepmum doesnt partic like kids and he is a very noisy kid! so she was always tutting or saying be quiet when we were out. i normally ignore him when he kicks off and if we are at home i tickle him until he stops! but i found myself trying to keep him quiet? whats all that about!
i never get embarrassed when he shouts when we are out (he never cries juat shouts - loudly) i honestly couldnt care less what people think. people with kids understand and those that dont just stare which i can cope with! i try and make him laugh and because he is just so cute people smile at him instead! the main prob is that he wont walk (can walk but just wont!) so he wants to crawl everywhere which i wont let him so we have tantrums!
i will have 2 by christmas arrrgghhh! x

You will be surprised how much more chilled you are with no2. Isaac is the same he cant walk, he probably could if he tried but I think he is just soooo lazy, and the fact that he has an older brother and 2 sisters who will do everything for him doesnt help, he also wants to crawl everywhere when we are out which does cause tantrums when I wont let him, heyho those are the joys of motherhood.
Congrats of baby no3 by the way. I must admit when i hear or see a newborn I do get very broody but you have to stop some where dont you. xx
