Subject : Due March-seen gp
Well, i've just had my first gp appointment, she's a lovely doctor but it was a bit of an anti-climax. She said they don't do tests as home ones are so reliable so i have to do another in a week to make sure im 'still pregnant'
She said congratulations and went through what i can and cant eat, gave me the number for the midwife etc but i really wanted a proper confirmation especially as i've got zero symptoms. Also, my hubbie is acting so luke warm, i know he's happy but i don't think he quite believes it yet. When i told him what she'd said he was like 'well we'll tell our parents after the test' as if i still might not be pregnant. I don't expect him to be swinging from the light fittings but i wish he'd get more excited!! I've just done another test and there's no way it's not positve, the line's almost the same as the control line now.
Also, the gp said aslong as im eating healthily there's no need for a supplement (appart from folic acid) as they don't want you to get too much good stuff:\?
Still getting the cramps and on day 7 of knicker watch! Feeling like some kind of deranged wierdo-never been so happy to see CM!

try not to worry! you are pregnant! enjoy it x
not everyone has symptoms, hopefully you're one of the lucky ones who doesn't have morning sickness or anything else and just blooms!
Don't worry about MrPixiebob - Takers hardly said much until the scan. Once he'd seen TJ he suddenly got so much more excited. I think its harder for men cos they are more detached physically from the pregnancy.
Congratulations xx

Hun try not to worry coz the only symptoms I had with Amy was a growing bump. At the start I had no sickness at all either.
I know what you mean with the GPs being a bit of an anti climax. I'm due mid feb & I havent even seen mine yet coz the last time I went as soon as I found out only to be told to come back if I made it to 8 weeks which I thought was bit harsh.
Good luck with the pregnancy & I'm sure hubby will be every bit as excited once it has sunk in xx

I saw my doc a few days after I got my bfp, so I was about 4wks but I already had an appointment to see her about something else.
She didn't test me either and referred me to midwife who I saw when I was about 7/8wks I think.
Each area is different though so it might be different at your surgery.

Pixiebob I SO know where you are coming from!!!!!!! I told the doctor I thought I was pregnant and he said well if the test says you are, you probably are (I went at 4 weeks and 4 days). He said I'd see the midwife at some point, and have a scan at about 12 weeks. He mentioned folic acid but nothing else! He didn't tell me not to eat sushi, raw meat (not that that would have been likely, admittedly), etc etc. I was quite disapointed. And now, I, like you have the deranged knicker watching!!!!!!! I just rushed to the loo 'cause I thought I might have felt something, but fortunately it was nothing. I don't have many symptoms, and some of the earlier ones have gone (the tiredness & over emotionalness) have gone. I got into a total state yesterday 'cause my boobs were no longer killing me! Today they feel like footballs again (okay, maybe more like oranges).
I just wish that they would give me a scan earlier, sort of once a week, until the second trimester.
My OH found it hard to get excited, he said that it felt quite unreal and asked me for a book. I bought him one (recommended by a friend) - but I hate it - it makes everything sound dreadful (although he keeps laughing out loud at it, and says it's just written for a bloke).
Anyway, I was pleased to read your post because it sounded so similar to me! Fingers crossed for both of us!
Ally x

Pixie and Ally I totally identify with you both, I am now just over 4 weeks and all I do is worry, like you Ally I have rushed to the loo several times because I thought I felt something and am worried about every single thing I do / eat / drink!! It's nice to know that i'm not just being mental and that others are going through the same.
Oh and I was only in the doctors for a few minutes as well, she hardly said anything, just that she would write to the hospital and I should hear about my scan date in a few weeks and she wanted to see me back in another 4 weeks to check everything is going on okay x

Jenny-Bunny at least she wanted to see you again!!!!!!! My friend recommended a book called 'what to expect when you're expecting'. It has a week by week account of where things might be at, and recommendations on food/diet and all sorts of things. Since my doctor was so uninformative, I bought that instead!
But I'm so glad that you lovely ladies are as nuts as me. It makes me feel so much more normal.
I tried to be so cool about it knowing there was a chance of it not working, but having terrified myself yesterday I'm now firmly knowing that I will be most upset if it doesn't work out, no matter how normal it is!
Fingers crossed for us all!
xx

Yes I bought the Pregnancy Bible and also the Best Friends guide to pregnancy, the second is fantastic, it tells you all the icky stuff you want to know but nobody will tell you. The bible is more practical and has all the sorts of things that the one you mentioned does. It's lucky I got it actually cos I was booked in for a spa day with oh's Mum and Sister next month starting off with a sauna and I read in my book last night that you can't go into a sauna during your first trimester!! The book has quite literally been a life saver!! Bloody doctors, honestly they just expect you to know everything or find out for yourself.
Good luck to you Ally, keep me updated as to how your getting on

I normally have really hot baths, but have been having short tepid numbers so I don't boil my baby. It is amazing the things the doctors don't tell you!
I might go and have a look at those - I've read mine already, and want something else to read. Not sure it will tell me anything new but hey. I'm very bored at work today (largely because I've wasted the day on the internet - so enticing but so unsatisfying!). So I'm going to leave early and enjoy the sunshine!
Take care :) ally xx

I know exactly what you all mean. I'm 4 weeks pregnant as well, following mmc in March. I've decided not to go to see Gp until week 6, as I know he wont say anything to help reassure me that things will be ok this time.
I've just gone back to work after a week off, and I feel really nervous, as my job can be quite physical, but will probably tell
my boss next week.
I just so want these next few weeks to fly by.
And I've still not got any symptons - please let me feel sick!!!

So glad im not the only nutcase!
ally-what's the name of the book you bought OH? I feel like a right meany for moaning about hubbie, he bought me a big bunch of peonies today (our wedding flowers) and keeps talking about little pip. I blame my hormones!
I felt abit quesy at tea time which was reassuring, it might have been because the meal i cooked was minging (steamed fish and veggies) even the dog turned her nose up but im taking it as a positive sign!
Me and little pip are going on our first proper outing tonight, to an open air concert (thankgod it's open air after the wind im producing). I feel like im on a secret mission as no-one will no im pregnant, he he!
oh yeh, the bath thing, i love a long hot soak, like it mega hot so my skin goes red. Tepid water is rubbish.
Also the doctor couldn't properly confirm i was pregnant but asked me where i wanted to give birth! What that all about? Told her i hadn't thought that far ahead but she said i need to decide by my scan x

I've got what to expect when you're expecting and its good.
I highly recommend the Haynes manual for the fellas - its great!! My bil gave it to Takers and he thought it was fab.
There's also a book by Miriam Stoppard but can't for the life of me remember what its called but I think its better than What to expect when expecting. If I can find it I'll let you know what it is!

Sorry that your work didnt take it well littlep, Im not looking forward to telling mine either!
Its so hard no to worry at this stage. Although what Ive been telling myself is that there is a higher chance of me NOT miscarrying, and that has helped me..... a bit! xx

The gp didn't give me a due date. If i took the first day of period to be when i had brown spotting then i'd be due on the friday 13th, my first full on day of af would make me due 14th so im going with the 14th!
Im not supersticious but i know some idiot would come out with 'oh, unlucky for some' and i really don't want to hear comments like that. If at my scan they say 13th then fair enough, i won't lie to people.
Does it bother you at all littlep?

No the date does not bother me. My family have a big link to the number 13. When I eventually tell my family they will use roll their eyes and say typical number 13 is involved again!! It will be fine Pixiebob. To be honest you rarely deliver on the due date any way!!. Do you have a scan date yet? x
