Subject : mushy.. processed peas.

are babies allowed to have mushy/processed peas. I thought i read somewhere once that they shouldnt because they have something in them that makes them hyper/crazy.. is this true?

is there anything else i should avoid?

Not sure what's in a tin of mushy peas but I would imagine you would need to be careful about the salt content. It's easy to make your own though - that way you'll know what's in it.

in a tin of mushy peas there is about 0.6g of salt (as it says on the tesco value tin! LOL! )

we give ollie them now (he's 13 months) but only a little bit at a time, so divide that 0.6g between about 8 servings and it becomes almost negligable, meaning its safe for him to have a bit at a time.
Dont know about the triangles - never thought about this as a snack for him.

i think a lot of processed peas are in sugared salt water in the can, but even so, i still think you cannot avoid everything. when i started weaning, id just cook normal frozen peas then blend them - all the kids loved them.

never given dairylee triangles til they were bigger either - not sure i wanted to cope with the mess.......!!!!

I've given Ellie a small portion of mushy pea's and she loves them (just like her mother!!) I also give her dairylee triangles, I've added them to sweet potatoe, mixed them with pasta and done it as a sandwich aswell as giving it to her straight from the pack. She's 8 and half months old now

I also give Kara a small portion of mushy peas which she loves. I think if we listened to everything that we shouldn't give to our los then we will never give them anything.
