Subject : Flying in the first trimester!

I just wondered if anyone here has had any advice aboout whether they should or shouldn't fly in the first trimester? Years ago they used to advise against it but more recently they say its not a problem and most info on the internet seems to say its fine as long as there are no complications etc.

I'm due to travel in a couple of weeks with work and really confused about whether I should or shouldn't go. I have asked a couple of medical professionals about this, taking into account my medical history of Endo plus the fact I'm carrying twins, and had mixed responses (some say it should be fine and others said personally they wouldn't risk it).

I wouldn't do anything to put the bumps (still takes some getting used to saying that LOL!) at risk but considering I am one of the lucky ones and barely suffering with half of the symptoms many of you seem to be going through I'm wondering if it is really such a big issue or just old fashioned views? Ideally though I would like to attend this work event and its gonna be hard to hide from colleagues if I don't go.

Sorry if this seems like a silly thing to ask as I'm sure most of you are already thinking "Duh, well I wouldn't risk it" WhateeeEver! but I'm just trying to get a balanced view on it. It would be ideal if the medical profession were able to say the risk of you flying is ?% wouldn't it? LOL!

Hiya
I'm not flying anywhere soon but I would happily do so if I had a holiday booked, (although i did fly to New York and back for honeymoon when I was 4-5 weeks).
xx

Apparently we more susceptible to radiation when we're in planes, although the risk to pregnant people is very low.

You want to go, so if it's a short-haul flight, I'd risk it, although anything more than a couple of hours and I'd think again.

I flew to Germany with work when I was only a few weeks gone and didn't know! Also spent last week on holiday in Europe too and we flew there!!! I did ask the doc about it being ok to fly and he said don't worry about it. So go for your trip and you'll be fine :-)
