Hi Emma,
Here's what the EPU dept told me on the pain issue - take paracetamol (apparently it's fine) and if the pain is still there call the hospital. Apparently, pains which go when you've taken paracetamol are OK. But perhaps call your GP/ EPU/ Antenatal Clinic anyway, and obviously call them if you start spotting or bleeding at all.

Speaking as a sane individual, it's no doubt just your body stretching to fit in those two little babies of yours, but speaking as a fellow pregnant person, I can honestly say that I would want to check anyway.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi Em,
Have you ever had this type of pain before or noticed any other symptoms like going to the loo more often or being more thirsty? I ask as I'm no medical expert but have suffered a lot with UTI's in the past and they are pretty common in pregnancy and from what you have said the symptoms do sound a bit like that. I would phone your MW if it continues and ask her, she may suggest a urine sample and this would confirm things but am sure its nothing more sinister.

Besides which, imagine all the extra stretching our bodies have to do with the twins (yes thats right I'm having twins too and found out yesterday at my scan - see my other post) and this can cause all sorts of weird pains according to my MW.

Keep us updated on how it goes but don't suffer for too long in silence hun XXX

See how you go with the paracetamol Em and if it gives you any relief from the pain.

If its still really bad during the night and the thirst or going to the loo frequently get worse then I would call the out of hours GP service in your area. They can dipstick your urine which gives a pretty good indication of UTI's so would then be able to start treating it for you rather than you waiting till Thursday for the results but see how you go.

Yes, definately going to need a buddy to share the twins experience with. Did they say if your are identical or not? So much to take in... saw MW today for the first time and now know I will get extra scans and consultant referral etc so imagine we will spend half our lives at the hospital :-)

They did dip it and showed nothing but said they'd send it to get better results?! So I dont think uti, doesnt hurt when i wee (tmi) sorry. If it persists ill call the docs again!

Maybe crossing over as I just posted on you thread, but my mw doesn't know yet she is on hol till mon and i cant wait to tell her, but my sonographer was great told me id be under a consultant and receive loads more scans etc, so I guess the hospital will be a 2nd home. Im thrilled to bits tho!!!

Hi Em

With twins I am aware you do get more pains as your body has to stretch twice as quickly as those of us that are only expecting one baby.

In addition, you will be a lot more thirsty and may experience more 'dramatic' (sorry pooey word to use, couldn't think of another) symptoms because your hormone levels will be a lot higher than ours.

However, as you may have grasped from my posts - I am a right ol' 'whittler' so if you are under a consultant now, give him/her a call and you'll probably find they book you in promptly for a scan. Twin pregnancies are monitored very carefully therefore, I'm sure you will get the piece of mind you need if you call and tell them your concerns :)
