Subject : Sophie Michelle's Birth Story

Hi Ladies,
Finally had more than 5mins to get on here and type Sophies birth story up. As most of u know i went in for a planned section so there are no drama's or anything. Got on the hospital at 07.30 and i was taken straight to the delivery suit and me a craig were told to gown up. I was quite shocked by this as i was expecting to be waiting around for ages. They monitored me and baby on the CTG for a bit, saw the consultant, saw the anethestist and had a canular put into my hand. Craig and i were then told a lady was going in before me coz she was diabetic and been nil by mouth since midnight was sending her funny. Anyway the mw took us down the theatre at about 10.45, i had my spinal which seemed to take forever and she had to try in two different spots, the most uncomfortable thing was leaning over my HUGE bump for such a long time.

Anyway i was hooked up to all sorts of drips and machines and we were all having a laugh and a joke which was nice. Then the consultant started the section there was lots of pushing, pulling and tugging and and cud actually see what was going on coz the light fitting on the ceiling was mirror like, at first i didnt want to look but then curiosity got the better of me, so i actually saw sophie been delivered. As soon as Sophie's head was delivered she started crying and the consultant said "hay be quiet ur not even out yet!", lol. The mw was really excited to tell us that we'd had a baby girl and i was so shocked i just cudnt speak (i was really expecting a boy). Craig went over the the resus area where they were cleaning her up and checking her over and then craig got to shorten the cord (which was really hard according to him, lol). They plonked her on the scales and i nearly died wen they said "wow, she's 8lb 14oz", it was at that point i was soooo glad id opted for a section. If id have been left to go to term or even over, she'd have been even bigger and i know i wudnt have been able to deliver her naturally.

We had loads of skin to skin in recovery and she latched on for a good feed straight away. We came home on sat at midday and we are both doing really well. Im a little tired coz iv bin thinking im super woman trying to do everything and Sophie is a little jaudice so is quite sleepy. Anyway im gona stop waffling now, hope all u pregnant mummies are doing well make sure u look after those little bumps. Kerry and Baby Sophie Michelle Johnson born 26/06/08 weighing 8lb 14oz xxxx

Hiya hon - well done again and welcome to little Sophie!

Make the most of her sleepy time - Reiss was a little jaundiced as well and I spent the whole time trying to wake him up! Now of course total reversal and I'm trying to get him to sleep!

Enjoy your new baby and so pleased to hear everything went well.xx

Thank you Kerry. It looks like I'm going to go down the elective c-section route and your birth story is really reassuring. Well done and congratulations.

Hi Kerry - thanks for taking the time out to write up your birthing story - I enjoyed reading it. Congratulations to you and your family....Sophie really does look like a little cutie in that pic.
Wow, you're a braver lady than I am - looking at the reflection in the light fitting - I did that at the dentist once & that was enough for me! : )
Anyway, glad you are both settling nicely & that everything worked out for the best.

Congratulations hon!

She really is a cutie and you are sooo brave! When I was having my section there was no way on this earth I would have looked to see Tommy born no matter how nice it would have been I think seeing my tummy pulled open so far open would have made me throw up so well done you!

Think I put on facebook - 26/6 is a good birthday (its my eldest sons)

Hope you are all well and Sophie is getting over the jaundice!

Take care, Love Lee
xxxxx
