Hi Naz i have always made bottles up in advanced the day before and popped them in the fridge even since mine were first born. A lot of 'experts' now say you shouldn't but it has never done mine any harm (or probably 1000s of other babies), as long as theyre put straight into the fridge and used probably by around the next day you should be fine x

Hi,
If it helps, I make mine up with water in advance and add the formula as and when needed, I tend to leave them in the kitchen and give it tomy baby at room temp- so much easier than heating them up/cooling them down.
Also, I am not demand feeding, I am sticking to a 3-4 hourly feeding schedule and it seems to be working out well. I breast fed at first but it wasn't working out so he has been on the bottle for a week now and seems to be much happier for it!

Hi,
thank you for your replys. I hav decided to make afew bottles up and keep in fridge, use wen need to. The miwifes kept saying how you have to make as you need, me and hubby hav been doing this for the last 4 days, and hav found it really difficult.
And Click like you, i tryed bf and it didnt work and i was devastated. So i think it just made the whole situation worse.
But thank you.
I dont no wat i wud do without these threads.

I was devasted too, I cried my eyes out giving him that first bottle, but he is a happier baby now, and I can actually enjoy him, rather than being so exhausted i didn't know what day it was. I know lots of people disaprove of bottle feeding, but it has to be what is best for us and our babies.
I was making up bottles one at a time at first, and it was only on Monday when my health visitor suggested making up the water in advance. I now do lots of bottle making, in the morning I make the feeds up to 6pm and around now I make the feeds to last till 7am. It makes life easier. Also i took him out yesterday and used a ready made carton, it was much easier than faffing about with power while out!
I hope it gets a bit easier for you.

Hi Click,
Well i started making about 6 bottles up and storing them in fridge. And me and baby Summer are so much happier. She actually put on weight on her first weigh in, me and hubby were so proud.
I no wat you mean about bf, all through out my pg i wanted to bf, and it was such a struggle. The midwifes made me feel like such a crap mother wen i cudnt do it.
Thanx for you advice. Were both alot happier now.
Naz

i have two kids babe and i have always made both there bottles 24hours at a time, the only thing is you have to keep them on a shelf in the fridge not in the door as its not as cool as inside the fridge itself
