Aw Big Congratulations to you Laura - brilliant news! Also congratulations to both your partner and to Conor on becoming a big bro :)

So your feeling was right about it being a baby boy...and what a great date of birth Joseph has - one of the luckiest dates in the Chinese calendar - according to one of the ads on tv at the moment - I can't remember what the advert is about now - my brain is still fried!!!

How was your labour? And how did it go at the Cheltenham? Did you manage to use the birthing pool as planned? If so, how did it compare?

My labour went really well, 9.5 hrs, not as bad or as long as I thought it would be at all - mind you, I was very, VERY scared, so anything other that than what or how I'd imagined it to be was a good thing I think. I got 2nd degree tears which seem to have healed quite quickly

I seem to remember a few comedy moments...after being told I needed stitches I tried to tell the midwife that I didn't need any (as if I were some kind of expert) & that I'd read on the net that you can heal well without (I'd had enough meddling with at that point). After she'd finished stitching me up I asked if she'd embroidered her name so I could remember her!? I have no idea why I asked her that...I blame the gas & air!?! :)

I bought one of the Baby Whisperer books that you mentioned...not that I've had the chance to read it yet lol. I also bought a few newborn books which have basic, bold images, which Maya does seem to be mesmorised by!

Vicki, I hope you're feeling a lot better? Is this an ongoing problem or is it down to your ligaments softening from pregnancy? Are you back at work?

So you are next to have yours, I bet the time will fly by and you'll be on maternity leave before you know it - yay - & I'll be going back to work - boo!

Your little Holli must be very excited having 2 babies to look forward to! It's great that you and her Dad all get along so well. My ex-partner (8yrs together) is now one of our closest friends, some people find it weird but it seems to work for us! :)

Right, little one needs feeding..hope to hear from you both soon..

Hi girls,

Sorry i havent been able to reply sooner,i have been so busy!! My labour was fine i was induced as there wasnt enough water around baby so unfortunatly i couldnt have a water birth which was a bit dissapointing but never mind.I found that staff lovely and went onto labour ard at 6.30am and had Joseph ar 13.58 so was quite a quick labour he was out in 2 pushes so i cant complain!!
How are things with you both?
Vicky you must be getting excited as the weeks go by have you got any ideas of what you are having? Have you found it different t your first pregnancy?

Hey both - Glad you're both doing well!

Congratulations to you Vicki, aww one of each for you then, that's great, have you told Holli she is expecting a little bro?
Glad to hear the back is getting better and that you are moving around more, you definately don't need that right now.

Christmas is not far away Vicki, so it won't be long and you'll be joining us on mat leave too...

Laura, it's such a shame you didn't get your water birth in the end - maybe next time? ;\)
And how did you manage to push him out in just two pushes?? I was pushing for 2 hours...perhaps I was doing it wrong hahaha!

It must be extra tiring having two to look after, I guess the age gap helps a bit in that you'll at least have the daytime whilst Conor is at school.

We are getting on fine now, don't think I mentioned before but we were told that Maya had quite a strong tie-tie whilst we were in the hospital therefore she couldn't latch on very well and would probably end up with a speech impediment. Anyway, she had a frenulotomy performed last week in Gloucester Hosp (they cut the piece of skin underneath her tongue in order to free it). I got so stressed about it being done but it was over with in seconds, very little bleeding and she only cried for about half a minute - and I think that was due to James having to hold her down so firmly. It's great to see her being able to move her tongue about so freely now.

I think we are getting there-ish in terms of a routine. Maya has feeds every 3-4 hours and is occassionally going just over 6 hrs at night now - which is nice. We have our 6 week check at the Dr.s tomorrow so I'm hoping to be able to get back into doing some exercise myself then...I did enjoy mowing our lawns at the wknd... but I'm really looking forward to playing badminton again.

Sorry guys, I think I've been jabbering on a bit...keep in touch - Nat X x
