Hey Gingervicki - Only just noticed your post, there must be more of us around the Gloucestershire area surely? I'm over in Cirencester, due in two weeks & counting! When are you due?

Hi Laura - I'm due 8th July - so only 6 days until my due date. I have another scan & app with the specialist tomorrow, I have a largish fibroid so he wants to check that it's not gonna get in the way of the birth...fingers crossed!
I hope you're enjoying your maternity leave. I'm on my second week of my maternity leave and finding it a bit weird not being at work, missing my friends there.
Are you having your baby in Cheltenham? We had our hospital tour there a few weeks ago.

Hey Lau - Yes, I'm very excited & very apprehensive all at the same time!
My appointment couldn't have gone better yesterday thanks, baby has managed to push the fibroid well out of the way, so its looking all clear for *exit*
Only 4 days till due date now..although if baby could make it a *little* sooner rather than later it'd be much appreciated..
How are you feeling? Are you about 35 weeks right now? Do you know what you are having yet?
We tried to find out the sex of the baby at our 20 wk scan but he/she was covering up. Actually it didn't even cross either of our minds to ask or try & work it out at the scan yesterday...but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Have you had the hospital tour yet? It was an unbelieveable hot day when we went to look round, it took about 45 minutes & most of us were almost collapsing by the time it ended.
We were shown the birthing pool & room and were told that it's a case of whoever gets there first, although on that day we were told it had been unused for well over a day. So fingers crossed that you'll get it on your day!
Right, sorry for rambling. I'm now off for a brisk walk to try & get things moving...

Hi Nat,
Glad all is ok,i am 35 wks + 4.Still feels like ages until 'B' day but im sure it will fly by! I feel really well thanks and even managed a girls night out last night and stayed to a resepectable 11.30pm so i was quite pleased!
I have got an 11 year old son Conor who doesent finish school for another couple of wks so i dont want an early appearance at the moment.
Have no idea what i am having we just wanted a surprise but i am convinced its a boy and my other half Neil thinks its a girl so someones right!
I was 4days late with Conor and everyone kept telling me to eat a curry or drink rasberry tea etc I think i tried everything but it just comes when its ready.Of course Neil is suggesting other ways to start the process off,men are so predictable!
Expect you are all ready by now and have everything you need,i read a book called the baby whisperer that a friend reccomended to me as i feel like a 1st time mum again as ive got such a big gap.Its quite good and had lots of advice etc.
Enjoy your last few days of peace and quiet!! L.

Hi Laura - Nice to hear from you again - there doesn't seem to be many people from around this way on here... I wonder what happened to Vicki who started this off, she doesn't seem to have been on in a while..
Well done for managing to stay up 'late' on your girlie night out, hope you enjoyed - I'm either dozing infront of the telly or tucked up in bed by that time at the moment!
Aw, is Conor excited about his baby brother/sister arrival? I wonder who will be right, you or oh..
I was drinking rasberry leaf tea at one point - I didn't really mind the taste but found myself constantly on the loo so opted for the tablets instead....although I'm still finding myself on the loo constantly! Had a hot curry the night before my due date & ate a whole pineapple too...but NOTHING. I'm now 2 days over and feel totally fed up today... I've even started hinting to my other half James about the 'other ways' of starting the process (although I'm soo not interested myself right now) but he really isn't keen - d'oh!
I've been booked in for a stretch & sweep with the midwife on Sunday morning - not looking forward to that at all.
I'll have to look into ordering that book - sounds good.
Hope you're well..

hey Laura
Gosh yeah i wonder what she has had, hope everything went ok....
ah i lady i work with goes on leave soon and everyday rubs it in as i have ages, just need a holiday i think to make me feel a bit better.
Def going to find out what were having, im just hoping they will be able to see, i wanted to know with Holli but they couldnt see a thing.
Yeah she's really excited, but her dad and partner are also having a baby, ha ha its due the day before Holli's birthday so could be an interesting one this year. But the 2 babies will be in the same school year and possibly the same classes, but we all get along great so it wont be a problem - odd set up, we all get along but its brill.
so not long for you now, i bet you cant wait

Hey both - I'm back!
We now have a gorgeous little baby girl called Maya!!!
Got induced 12 days overdue on Saturday morning, my waters broke that night at 4am and I gave birth the following afternoon Sunday 20th July at 1.35pm, she weighed 7lb 2oz..
I found all of the staff at Cheltenham absolutely lovely...especially the two midwives who delivered her...Rosie & Ethel - look out for them
I'm loving being a Mum right now...although I'm finding it sooo tiring. I can't believe she has finally arrived and is 2 weeks old already...time has flown by. I'm sure we'll get into more of a routine and find our feet soon...I hope so anyway!
Hope you're both feeling well? Glad you came back Vicki.
Laura, I think you may be due around about now-ish??? That's if you haven't had your baby already!? If not, best of luck to you and I look forward to hearing what you have had on your return to the site.
Hope to speak to you both again soon - Nat X x

Hi Nat,
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I have been looking to see what you had but knew that logging on would be the least of our worries!! I am so pleased that you had a nice experience at Cheltenham i think it makes all the difference if you feel well cared for.
How have you been coping with being a new mum? Was your labour ok and what you expected? I wouldnt worry about a routine just it day by day!
I am due today, got a midwife appointment later and might beg for an induction!
Hope you are feeling well vicky and everything it ticking along nicely for you.
Will let you know if any news......L.x

Aw Big Congratulations to you Laura - brilliant news! Also congratulations to both your partner and to Conor on becoming a big bro :)
So your feeling was right about it being a baby boy...and what a great date of birth Joseph has - one of the luckiest dates in the Chinese calendar - according to one of the ads on tv at the moment - I can't remember what the advert is about now - my brain is still fried!!!
How was your labour? And how did it go at the Cheltenham? Did you manage to use the birthing pool as planned? If so, how did it compare?
My labour went really well, 9.5 hrs, not as bad or as long as I thought it would be at all - mind you, I was very, VERY scared, so anything other that than what or how I'd imagined it to be was a good thing I think. I got 2nd degree tears which seem to have healed quite quickly
I seem to remember a few comedy moments...after being told I needed stitches I tried to tell the midwife that I didn't need any (as if I were some kind of expert) & that I'd read on the net that you can heal well without (I'd had enough meddling with at that point). After she'd finished stitching me up I asked if she'd embroidered her name so I could remember her!? I have no idea why I asked her that...I blame the gas & air!?! :)
I bought one of the Baby Whisperer books that you mentioned...not that I've had the chance to read it yet lol. I also bought a few newborn books which have basic, bold images, which Maya does seem to be mesmorised by!
Vicki, I hope you're feeling a lot better? Is this an ongoing problem or is it down to your ligaments softening from pregnancy? Are you back at work?
So you are next to have yours, I bet the time will fly by and you'll be on maternity leave before you know it - yay - & I'll be going back to work - boo!
Your little Holli must be very excited having 2 babies to look forward to! It's great that you and her Dad all get along so well. My ex-partner (8yrs together) is now one of our closest friends, some people find it weird but it seems to work for us! :)
Right, little one needs feeding..hope to hear from you both soon..
