Subject : Contraception Jag

Hi there ladies, hope you are all well. I haven't been on here in a while.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise, I mad a missed miscarriage in February at 10 weeks. After I had it, the doctor told me it would be better if I had the contraception injection which lasted for 12 weeks so I decided to go for that. However I wasn't told that a side effect was weight gain and I've put on 8lb since I got the jag (nightmare).

The jag is due to wear off on the 23rd May and I don't plan to get another one. We've decided to start trying for a baby again.

I was just really wanting to know if anyone has had this and if any of you had the same side effects, and how quickly you fell pregnant after the jag finishing.

Thanks
Anne-Marie

Hi

I didn't want to r&r. I can't really help I am afraid as I have never had it. but a friend of mine had the jab for 1 year and put on a stone from it. So it seems a likely side effect

I haven't been eating badlt either so I can't even blame it on that. I can't wait for it to wear off so I can start losing this weight and start ttc again, getting the jag seemed liked a good idea at the time but a month into I so wanted to start ttc again, typical.

Thanks for replying anyway.
xx

I cant say form personal experience as I have never had the contraceptive injection but my friend did and her periods stopped completely until a year after the injection when she had one period and then fell pregnant. She said it was a nightmare because for months after the jab had apparently worn off she had no idea wether she was pregnant or not. She went on to have a very healthy 11lb baby boy!

But i think it just depends on how quick the hormones from the injection get out of your body.
Good luck and hope you get your bfp soon!x

She had the 12 week one, the doctor told her she should be able to get pregnant straight away after the 12 weeks but i guess the hormones were hanging around longer than they shoulda done.x

Oh no I really hope that doesn't happen to me, with my luck I bet it will. Although I have had a light bleed for that last few days so that could be a good thing I guess maybe thats it wearing off, fingers crossed. xx

Hi Annem1982, i had the jab, and put over a stone on in 12months so decided to go back on pill, which i was on for about 4/5 years until i stopped it two years ago, to try for a baby, but still had no joy, i am still wondering if the reason i'm not ov as good as i should be may down to being on contraception for so long.

Hi Claire

I just wish I had known about it before I took it.

I was on the pill for 3 years, and when I came off it, it took me 2 years to get pregnant with my daughter, after I had her I went back on the pill and fell pregnant (whilst on the pill) which sadly ended in a mmc.

I'm hoping the fact that I've had a mini period means by body is getting back to normal now, the jag is due to end next week, so fingers crossed.

Good luck with ttc. xxx
