Subject : Swimming
Hello, I am taking my son swimming soon, just me and him. How do you find the changing bit part? Is it difficult showering you and your child and getting both of you ready ?? I know this seems such a stupid thing to ask! but i need some advice and i know my english is poor, but if you can help that be great. Thanks

I have been taking Millie swimming since she was 6 weeks (now 20 months) and this is how we do it. Unless you are sure that one will be provided take your own changing mat. When we get there Millie sits on the changing mat (or used to, now she mostly runs off!) while I quickly get changed, then I get her ready. When we come out of the pool I make sure she is well wrapped up in a towel while I get dried and dressed quickly and then I dry her properly and dress her. We don't bother with a shower as we swim in the afternoon so she has her bath fairly soon after, but if you are going to shower it is easiest not to bother washing your hair etc and just stand under the water to get the chlorine from the pool off. Most babies actually really enjoy showers as long as it doesn't go in their faces.
Hope you have fun, swimming with babies is great
Kerry xx

Yeh my son hates showers since it went on his face b4 - he screams when it comes to showers, so i just bath him now. ! i really want to take him swimming just worried how i would cope! I cant ask anyone to come with me cos they all busy with their own lifes etc. Havent got any pals who are young mums like myself.

Hi sweetie - I've been taking Max swimming for only a couple of weeks now but it is great fun! Have you been yet?
Let me tell you what we do;
I live not far from the pool, so I put Max's swimming nappy and swimsuit on underneath his clothes - I also put my cossie on under my clothes before we go (don't forget underwear for afterwards!) it saves a lot of time at the pool!
Also take towel to wrap Max up as soon as we get out. I don't use the shower - at my pool the showers are a little too hot even for me!
I get Max dried and dressed first then quickly get dressed myself.
You will probably find your own way of doing things which is right for you and LO. Have fun!! :)

hi. i have also been taking lo swimming since about 6 weeks. like antoriac i get us both in our swimming stuff before we leave then it quicker at the pool. i get undressed frist then do lo. when we come out we have a quick scoosh under shower and wrap lo in towel (the ooncho one that go over their head is quite good it doesnt fall off). i get lo ready first then i get dressed. these days now she is 18months she will sit and eat her grapes and cheese while i dress but even when she was little she was quite happy to lie on her changing mat as long as i blethered to her. i usually take 2 towels for lo one to wrap her in as soon as we come out of pool and another to dry her off with (this is usually just a hand towel. enjoy swimming with your lo it is such great fun.xxx
