Well I stayed in for 10 days in total and so did my lo - we were lucky actually cos I didn't NEED to stay in but managed to keep hold of my post natal bed in order to be close to my lo and to get breastfeeding established - my lo's consultant fought for me to be able to stay in!
Lo was born at 34+1

Hello, my daughter was 4 weeks early, afetr 6 days we returned home on saturday. They kept me inbecause our daughter hadnt gained weight or her weight stayed the same for two consecutive days and put a tube down her. By saturday i was bored out of my head as i was just watching for the the clock to tick by before she got weighed again. I asked if she could be topped up with expressed milk through a bottle rather than tube to which she downed the lot beautifully. The mw on that night, said that if I top her up with the bottle I would get out of hospital quicker than if we carry on with the tube feeds to top her up! that was fri night, wsat midday we were discharged.
Since getting home, my daughter has taken to the breast really well and we havent had to top her up as yet. They said to me dont be surprised if you stay in a week. Im guessing if i wasnt bf, i would have been out sooner.

I was in hospital for 5 days and Kenny was in for 3 weeks. He was physically well but didnt have a sucking reflex as he was too little so was tube fed. I tried him at the breast at every opportunity and he gradually built up the stamina to have a full feed. As soon as he could feed himself he was discharged which was 4 weeks before his due date.

Hi I had Kara at 2.54am on Sunday and I went home on the Monday. Kara was in for 2 weeks. I was happier going home and getting things sorted for her coming home and she was born at 34+4 and I had nothing really organised. I felt better being home as well because I was able to sleep better at night and I could then go in to the hospital to her during the day. Going in and out of the hospital though is very tiring.

Amelia was born on Tues morn at 12.42am and we were out on the Monday! She had phototherapy for 48 hours and 24 in an incubator as she was cold and a bit slow to start breathing on her own etc... she was 35 weeks. Luckily she bf straight away. i was in as I had section and placenta previa with accreta so they wanted to monitor my blood loss and blood levels. Also, I had lump in leg which they were watching incase of DVT. All was fine though.
Wow millie was tiny. How old is she now???? Has she caught up?

i had the twins 8wks early, i stayed in hospital for i think it was 5 or 6 days, so that i could have a rest and to be close to the girls and to beable to start expressing my milk and to have them around for a bit of stimulation. they were in hospital for 5wks and 2 days. it was the longest 5 wks of my life. the twins were 3lbs 10 and 3lbs5 they are now 8 and a half months and are on par for their corrected age...

Hi Zoey, as you know my friends baby was born at 25 weeks on 11th Janurary and he is STILL in hospital! He is almost 5 months old now but he has got breathing difficulties and a hernia on his large intestine that they will need to operate on first. He was due on the 20th April but no sign of him getting home any time soon. x

Its normal for a 25 weeker to have a long stay in hospital as they usually have more medical needs.
Zoe, you are way past that stage and your bubba is getting bigger every day.

Well - my oh's mum had his sister at 29 weeks due to eclampsia (the severe form that has bypassed the pre-eclampsia stage). She was delivered by emergency c section and they both nearly died due to the eclamptic fits & her BP top figure was over 400! She was in coma for 5 days after the birth and begged to go home as soon as she came round and was home a day or 2 later!!! Oh Sis was in for 4 weeks or so. She is 23 now! xxx
