Subject : How's the heat affecting your baby?

My baby girl was born in January so 4 months old. Obviously a winter baby - this heat is not agreeing with her. Especially last night when she was awake for 2 hours which was no fun at all. She normally sleeps thru the night (with lots of tossing & turning), so being woken by her at 1am was a bit of a shock again. She eventually went off after we changed nappy, tried her with water then milk. Although she woke again at 6.30 after going to sleep at about 3am. I also stripped her down to her vest (should have put her to bed like this in the 1st place)!

During the day she also seems irritable although I do just dress her in a short romper and keep her cool inside the house. I've offered her water but she doesn't seem to like it! I don't know how best to keep her cool - I've been so used to trying to keep her warm!! She's also off her (formula) milk - I'm assuming babies are a bit like adults, they don't want to eat so much when they are hot...?

Does anyone have any tips on keeping baby cool thru the night so they sleep better and keeping baby cool thru the day? By the way she is still in our room in a crib. I am wanting to put her in her own room very soon (but her nursery gets quite warm too so I'm waiting until the weather cools off).

I think Charlotte is teething too as chewing fingers, dribbling etc and she seems to be clingy during the day.

This hot weather is lovely but I wish it would just cool down a little. Why does it always have to get so humid & uncomfortable?!

I cant say the weather has really affected my Jayden. Hes been sleeping at night with a vest, short pjs and a 1tog sleeping bag and not waking and i thought his room was pretty hot! He was born in october so also a winter baby. He does hate it though if hes out in it, would rather be inside where its cool x

Poppy has been unaffected by it too! her room is very hot but she's been sleeping the same as normal but with the added noise of a fan in her room.
We went to a friends bbq this afternoon and I sat under a parasol with her for the majority of the afternoon as it was sooo sunny!! Just as well she's not really bothered by the heat as we're off to Mexico in August!
xx

Hi ladies!

Max is 5 1/2 months and doesn't seem too bothered by the heat.
Although he's not feeding as much as usual but is sleeping ok in bodysuit and 1 tog sleeping bag.

As for keeping him cool in the day - I don't take him out in direct sun between 11am - 2pm unless I have to cos thats when the sun's at its hottest :)

my lo aint too bad she is 9 months so was a summer baby.. she is sleeping fine in a 2.5 tog bag and just a vest. but she has hayfever so i think that bothers her most.. red wattery eyes and a constant runny nose. she seems to be a little bit off her food and has a few mouthfulls then wants a yogurt.. have bin trying to give her cool food like a sandwich and cucumber sticks at lunchtime instead of a hot dinner though. seems to be helping i hate the heat so i can only imagine what it must be like 4 a baby who has no wayof cooling themself down..

We are having a bit of a nightmare with our lo, he is 7 weeks old and obviously does not like the heat, he has been irritable all day, crying, whinging, feeding a lot more often too but only little amounts each time.

We have had a fan on in the house and just got him in a vest, but don't know whether it is having any effect, although have finally got he off for a sleep

Well Kian has got hayfever too it would seem, no diagnosis (will have to get him in the docs) but runny nose and bloodshot runny eyes, so that really isnt helping. Ive got him in a vest at night with just a thin sheet over his legs and hes still wet through with sweat and really irritable. Hes always been a really hot baby though. Don't know what to do about it! Its really a shame though cause I love the summer and was going to book a winter sun holiday for the end of the year, but might have to rethink that! xx
