Subject : Anyone bought/rcvd Dr Titzer books/DVDs from Baby Show Mar08

I went on the 2nd day of the Baby Show, and was told that everything had sold out, but they were still going to sell the set at the same price and would post out the package at no extra cost. The total cost of the full package was £120. I paid for this on my American Express and was told to wait about 4 weeks.

Today, I received an invoice from Parcelforce which tells me that they have an International parcel for me at customs and I have to pay £25.37 VAT plus Parcelforce Clearance Fee of £8 = £33.37. Surprised Mad

When Dr Titzer's staff told me that it would be posted to me, I had no idea that it would be posted from USA and that there would be a possible extra charge of 27.5% on top of the price I had already paid. I am really upset that I am suddenly FORCED to pay this extra £33.37 and nobody warned me.

Has this happened to anybody else?
Does anyone know if I don't pay this invoice and the parcel gets sent back will I get my original £120 back?
Anyway, I thought that childrens' books (not sure about DVDs) were exempt from VAT Confused

I have 20 days to pay this invoice, which was dated 8th, so I guess I only have 17 days left to decide what to do.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Sarah Frown

Oh I am so happy today.
I emailed them and I got a lovely reply from them. They apologise for the extra delay in my delivery. They ask me to pay first then forward a copy of the bill to them and they will pay me back. They are very nice and pleasant people to deal with. I'm in such a good mood now :D

Hi Sarah,
glad you got it sorted, have you started your lo watching them yet? I'm struggling to get maxwell to watch it for longer than 5 mins & he just tries to eat the books! x

Well, as above says, I got a reply to say fwd a copy of the bill, but since I've paid and sent them a copy of the bill, I haven't heard anything... I'm waiting patiently! I received my package though Happy

Megan loves it! She loved the starter video anyway and when the credits came up she'd scream to let me know. LOL! The new DVDs are a bit longer and I have to split them in half for her to watch, she seems to cry when some of the songs come on. I'm not sure if it's too much excitement for her Confused She's only 6 1/2 months, so I'm giving her time. How old is Maxwell? I haven't actually started on the cards much as I don't want her to ruin them. (I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but am going to need to start otherwise there would've been no point in getting them!) I find myself standing next to the TV and dancing a lot in a silly voice to keep her attention of what's going on. Razz

I do think they might need to make a British version though, as some of the words aren't useful in England, eg. diaper and the word colour is spelt without the 'u' WhateeeEver!

After a few lost emails and patient waiting I finally received my refund for the VAT. I'm so happy!
It took a while, but they were very easy people to deal with. :D
My LO loves the DVDs, she sits totally still when they're on Happy
