Subject : Should you buy a new mattress?

My little boy is 3 and my 2nd child is due in September. We bought a new mattress for his cot bed last year as he was sick / pooey in his cot. We bought an expensive mattress £100 from Mothercare but should we still buy a new one for the new baby? Any thoughts?
