Subject : BRAS - WILL I BE THE SAME SIZE AFTER THE BIRTH OR BIGGER IF
HI I AM ALMOST 33 WEEKS AND AM JUST STARTING TO WEAR A D-CUP BRA (NORMALLY AN A -CUP WOOHOO!). BUT WAS WONDERING WHEN WOULD BE THE BEST TIME TO BUY NURSING BRAS? (HOPING TO BREASTFEED) WITH ONLY 7 WEEKS TO GO SURELY I WONT GET MUCH BIGGER...BUT WONDERED DO YOUR BOOBS GET BIGGER/SMALLER OR WHAT AFTER THE BIRTH AND WHAT SIZE OF NURSING BRA SHOULD I GET....SAME SIZE AS NOW??
THIS IS MY SECOND BABY, AND I DIDNT BREASTFEED FIRST TIME, SO I KNOW MY BOOBS GOT GRADULLY SMALLER (BACK TO NORMAL) BUT I WONDERED IF THEYD STAY PREGNANCY SIZE WHILE BREASTFEEDING?

you should go about 35 weeks and mothercare is probably the best even if its just to get measured and stuff. i think they recommend going up a cup size and down a measurement around as your ribs shrink back after the birth. you probably will go up one more size when your milk comes in but then after a little while you will probably seetle back at what you are now, at least until you stop feeding. mothercare do packs of 2 that are cheaper that buying them seperate and i would recommend 2 packs as it can get a bit messy when your milk comes in and you will need to sleep in them for a bit.

hi Laura,
I got measured at 37/38wks and they got my size right that i am now. Mine didn't grow much in pg, maybe a cup size but they have gone up two sizes since giving birth. just be sure they will be comfy cos you will prob wear them at lot more than you wear a bra now. mothercare have loads of diff styles and sell them in singles and two packs. i got two two packs - not cheap - £50! but def need them as leakages happen even with a greedy baby like I have and you don't have to worry about having a clean one when you have 4. I find mine really comfy. be prepared to be there a while!

Hi, I got measured at 38 weeks for a nursing bra, but I had to get measured again when lo was 6 weeks old as i had gone from a b cup to an f cup!!! sadly though now lo is down to 3 feeds a day they have gone to a d cup so i think they will completely disappear when he stops.

Hi Laura, my boobs didn't change when preg, but definitely did when my milk came in!! They are a lot bigger now (given I started out at a 32f/g this is not a good thing). Personally I don't recommend mothercare, I found all through pregnancy and also when looking at nursing bras that they were shocking, their staff obviously have to work in all areas of the shop therefore none of them are specialists in bra fitting, they didn't have a clue...tried telling me I would need a 36e after little one was born....
Obviously different stores have different staff and you may get on better, but I found Marks and Spencer fairly good but they don't sell anything in my size, their nursing bras don't go down to a 32 and stop at a G cup. I'd suggest trying a few shops, you know your body, don't just go with what the fitters tell you. If you really struggle, Bravissimo are amazing!

I didnt find mothercare any good or m and s, mothercare only have one or two that go down to a 32 back and m and s dont have any so they told me to go to a bigger back. Bravissimo are great at fitting but i didnt fined they had a very big choice, once i got measured and fitted properly there i went to figleaves.com who have a great range and lots of choice. I also found john lewis good.

i found mothercare really nice and reassuring... untill it got to my milk coming in and me needing a bra TWO sizes bigger than they said. Even now when ive had to stop and my boobs have shrunk a bit, the bra doesn't fit. rediculous. I just had to guess and hope for the best by measuring myself when my boobs were engorged to work out how big they COULD be.
