Subject : Grant from council

Hello,

For those who are thinking about using re-usable nappies/have just brought some/have just started using them, did you know that you can get a grant towards them from your local coucnil?

I went and brought mine online and my local council is giving me a £30 voucher as I have already brought mine. I know some councils give £50. Thought I would let you all know, as an extra bit of money/vouncher given to you helps :) All I have to do is fill out a form and get it signed by my midwife to say I am using reusable nappies!

No joy I'm afraid!! All ours do is give you a free week laundry service (not really sure how that works. I think its a pick up type thing) which costs a massive £6.45 whoopeee!! I actually think thats quite expensive to launder your nappies coz it def doesnt cost me that to launder them at home. The frustrating thing is that the adjoining council to us which is only 10 miles away give a £25 voucher!!! Oh well it was worth a shot anyway. Hope you have more luck!! xx

We get either a free trial pack which is actually quite good and worth about £35 quid or £20 of a spend of over £50 if you send them a reciept. Unfortunately they introduced it too late for us to take advantage of it last time round but I will definately be applying for the trial pack when this one arrives.

That sounds really good. I wish ours done something like that though I'm not surprised coz our health visitors dont seem to have a clue about reuseables so its no wonder none of the mums I know locally use or have ever used them. Pity really when I think of the money they have saved me

There's a link to incentive schemes on the bambinomio homepage.

I've got a £54 voucher from the council - woohoo! Want to see if I can use it for buying nappies from Kiddicare.com, which seems to have the best value bundle I can find... does anyone know? I'm waiting for their customer services to respond too.

Just an update on using the voucher - there's a specific list of suppliers sent with the voucher and the discount can only be processed by these companies. I ended up buying my birth to potty set through Kiddicare and buying liners direct from Bambinomio, who could take the voucher - I now have about 18 months supply of liners!! ;-) My sis-in-law uses the same system for hers too so we'll be ok.

It is a bit frustrating that if we had bought the system we wanted through any of the suppliers listed, it would have practically negated the value of the voucher, as the kiddicare package was heavily discounted. I'm going to mention that in my feedback to the council scheme, but otherwise I'm pleased!

surrey county council do a reduced trial pack of a range of different nappies and if you want someone will come to your house to give free advice

http://www.surreyrnn.info/

am just looking at reusables and from reading comments on this site it seems a great idea to get a range to sample so i can choose whatis best for me and my baby.

Whoo Hoo my council just refunds £25 into your bank account if you provide receipts of your spend. Brilliant (although only a tenth of what I have actually spent!!)
But better in my pocket then theirs!!

Thanks for info
