Hi anatoriac.

As you say its not good, it makes me think it could be dilation and currettage, where the uterus is expanded and cleaned via a currette.

HTH?

Hi Anatoriac
I noticed your post when I was doing the live web chat on Monday and needed a little help with all the acronym's!
D&C stands for dilatation and curettage which is what occurs when an abortion is carried out (either following a miscarriage or in the case of a therapeutic abortion for whatever reason). The cervix is gently dilated (to avoid any long term damage in future pregnancies) using surgical dilators. This is followed by removal of the uterine contents using a surgical curet which simply scrapes the lining of the womb to make sure it is completely empty and to avoid any infection occuring.
Hope this answers your question
Kindest regards
Sharon
