Subject : Frozen Mash Potatoe

I am currently weaning my lo and froze some mash potatoes in my Annabel Karmel food cubes but when I came to defrost them for lo's tea tonight it looked like they were in crystal shards. It was definitely no good. It just didn''t defrost properly?? I used little new potatoes and added my breast milk before freezing, do you think this is anything to do with it?

Have quite a few cubes more frozen, are these no good do you think?

Louise xx

hi loui4, not sure what has happened to your mash. i make up mine as usual, freeze it then when needed just defrost mix with veg and heat in microwave. hes never been keen on his milk so never mixed it with his food. not much help but maybe try without adding your milk

Hi Clarew

Thanks for your reply hun. I am thinking it was down to the type of potato I used as I remember oh saying it looked very sticky when I mashed it up, not like normal mash. Have bought some new ones today so will try those minus my milk.

Thanks again xx

Hi Sarah

I have just done some using normal spuds and all looks better this time! So a tip for anyone as silly as me when it comes to cooking, don't use new potatoes for mashing & freezing :)
