Hi All

I am 27 and having my first baby in April, I dont think it matters what age you are when you have a baby as long as you know your ready. I personally would have liked to be pregnant in my early twentys as both my sisters had their kids when they were younger, my older sister was 17 when she had her first and she is now 28 with three kids 12, 8 and 7, my younger sister was 20 when she had her first baby and is now 22 and pregnany with second. so i feel they are growing up with their kids, i would of liked to be pregnant earlier but me and my fiancee had trouble conceiving, we eventually did naturally 4weeks before i was due to see IVF doctor so we are just happy that we have little one on way no matter how old we are. X

hi
i was 18 having my 1st son i then did a 3 year nursing course which i started when jacob was 6months old. I then got married at 23 and had my 2nd son caleb in march last year when i was 24. so everything seems to be falling into place and finally i can enjoy spending precious time with my kids, coz they don`t stay small for long!!

i have known my fiance since i was 14 but we were just friends, he went away to uni and i trained as an engineer.
i always imagined having children but not until i was atleast 30 and then i only wanted one.
however i am 22 now(been a couple with fiance just over 2years) and expecting our 1st baby(planned) in july and couldnt be happier, in fact with him i want about 5 kids(realistically 3) but i have found my best friend and soul mate.
we dont own our own home but both have good jobs i am an engineering superviser and he is a computer programmer and designer with an economics degree.
i still feel very young sometimes and think people who have babies younger than me are incredible and i admire them as i couldnt of done it 2 yrs ago let alone 5yrs.
i do think 11 is way too young(a baby having a baby).
my mil had her youngest at 40(unplanned) and he does keep her young but now she is 50 she wouldnt even consider another child.

I'm 27, nearly 28 and ttc my first. Always wanted to have children before I was 25, but life didn't work out that way! Have two gorgeous step children aged 10 and 7 already though, so that makes up for it. Just hoping it doesn't take too long!

Hi, I'm 26, I have 2 kids, both boys. One is 6 years old and one is 6 months old. I was 19 when I fell pregnant with my first. Like "player_claire" I had never been very career minded at school, never had any "real" ambition job wise but I always knew I wanted to be a relatively young mum so it suited me down to the ground.

Having had my babies aged 17,21 & 24 I do feel that although I offered my eldest what I thought was the best at the time, I wasn't mature or experiened enough at life to really understand how big bringing up a child is. Thats not to say I wasn't a good mum, I just feel that with time comes knowledge and maturity - and having been a teenage mum myself I would not recommend having a child until you have had enough time to grow and experience life. I guess this would only happen in an ideal world, and as we have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in Europe. I think we should make sure the young women who become mothers understand how to make a success of their lives, to not become totally dependant on benefits and realise that they have to be role models for their children. I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I am still with my childrens father, we have been together for 15years, both work full and part time, own our own home and try to bring our children up to the best of our ability - This has only come through sheer hard work plus the usual blood, sweat & tears! I really do think that there are pro's & con's to everything ,as long as the child is loved & in a secure and loving environment then thats a good starting point no matter what age you are.

Sorry for the long rant, this topic is close to my heart!

Rose

Hi, I'm 33 now and expecting our last (3rd child) I had my first at 28 and (2nd child) at 29. Felt the time was right and wanted to get children phase done and over with whilst fairly young and then get on with our lives / go back to work in the future.

Hello i'm 27 this year and were in the process of trying to sort a house so if I do get pregnant we have somewhere nice to live as living at home is not at all ideal... altho I think my mum would be pretty happy to have a little one around... lol

i'm 32 and my baby is due in sept, I had my first son when I was 30. I wanted to live first and am glad I did - it's like I did all the hard work then and got all the partying out of my system so I don't miss it.

Hi,

I am 25 and have three kids. Had my first when I was 18. I think some ppl just have a strong maternal urge and theres no stopping it tbh. My mum lectured me about the importance of not getting pregnant but I think she mainly did this coz deep down she knew it would happen.

I agree that every one is individual- some 18 yo girls are mature enough to cope with a baby I know I was I coped with my boy very well. Although 11 is definately way too young.

I don't understand those in this thread who bang on about 'I'm still with the dad' and 'we own our own house' etc. While stability is good for kids owning your own house doesn't make you a good parent- nor does staying with the father.

Hi I had my first child at 20 , 2nd at 22 3rd at 28 4th at 39 and 5th and last at 41. I have to say I am a better mother , more patient and tollerant now than when I was with my first. It really does not matter how old you are as long as you love them.
