Subject : Lunchtime get-together Manchester mums?

Hi Manchester mums and mums-to-be!

Anyone out there who'd like to meet other mums/ mums-to-be too? I am 30 years old, 20 weeks pregnant with my first child and would love to meet other mums or mums-to-be in Manchester! I am working in the city centre and was wondering if anyone would like to meet over lunchtime (noon - 2pm for me) once in a while?

Maybe we could even set up a regular drop-in lunchtime get-together (monthly, weekly) for Manchester mums? I think it could be great fun! Mums-at-home could bring their little ones, and the rest of us, mums-back-at-work and mums-to-be, would just bring themselves (and possibly a photo of the little ones ;-)

I think there is usually some space in Debenhams' Café next to their toys department but maybe you know of better places that are fairly central?

It seems that the joys of motherhood can be dampened by a little bit of loneliness and I am not very keen on that, so hope to meet you soon :-)

Kerstin

Hi Kerstin,
I wouldn't be able to meet up but caught your earlier thread about sport in Manchester. I live in Prestwich too and I'm pregnant (13 wks) with 2nd child.

I'd try the aquanatal on thursday morningsa at Aquatics centre. You might even be able to get time off for this as it's run by midwives. It's a laugh and the midwives are lovely. Redvales children's centre in Bury are starting a Yoga class too soon, so it's worth looking them up and Bury do loads of activities so don't forget it's not far away!
To all (especially Bec) who are a bit lonely, I'd recommend getting in touch with NCT who provided me with a lifeline and lifelong friends first time around. It's really worth the effort although it's hard when you don't know anyone....and the sure start centres such as Redvales are really good and provide loads of activities for you and the little one, even really little ones!

Hi, it would be great if you could let me know when you are next meeting up as i would love to come. Unfortunately none of my friends are at the baby stage and i think they are getting bored of talking about breastfeeding and nappies :).My name is Marie and i;m 32, my daughter Freya is nearly 8 weeks.

Hi Marie

It would be lovely if you came along. We met up today and have said we will meet up again next week although no day booked yet. Either myself or Kerstin will post on here which day we will be meeting. I know that it won't be a wednesday or a Friday as I can't make those days.

I am 26 and have a son Alexander who is 16wks.

Watch this space and we will post a time and place for next week.

Hope to meet you both soon.

Take care

Hi Marie

We will be meeting up again on Thursday 13th March at 12.30pm in Debenhams cafe (upstairs). I think Kerstin is going to post something on here about it. If other people start to come we will be making it into a regular thing....same time and place each week.

Hope you and Freya can make it.

Take care

Just seen this topic, have copied and pasted my comment fromthe other thread:

Hello guys

Just joined this website after seeing your posts. Kerstin, great idea of yours, I've been looking around for something like this for a while with no joy, although I've probably been looking in the wrong places! This seems ideal for me as I work very close to Debenhams in town.

I am 27 weeks and this will be my first baby. I do not know what the sex is, I still can't believe I didn't cave in and ask at the time. I am the first of my age group of friends to fall pregnant and have been slightly worried about being lonely whilst on my maternity leave. I would love the opportunity to meet up with other mums and not drive my non parent friends crazy with baby talk!

I can make Thurs 13th March see you all then :)

Davina

Hi Manchester mums & mums-to-be,

last Thursday four of us met at Debenhams Café! I thought it was lovely and hope we can keep our regular lunch-time get togethers going!

Due to Easter the next meeting will be on Thursday 27th March at Debenham's Café on the third floor. It starts at 12.30 and finishes depending on when everybody has got to go.

I think we are easy to spot but you never know so we'll take a copy of Prima baby & pregnancy along and put it on the table next time!

What do we do? Enjoy a cup of coffee (or well, water) and chat about babies, the must haves, birth, what it is like to live with a baby, photographers, holidays .... It's amazing to me how simple it is to start a conversation with complete strangers when you are pregnant or have a baby!

I am looking forward to seeing you on the 27th! If you've got any questions and don't like to post them here please feel free to send me an email kerstin.moritz@gmx.net .

Cheers,
Kerstin

Hi guys posted this on the other thread but thought I'd post here too for all the Manchester mums to see:

Finally I have found a yoga class! Haven't managed to speak to anyone yet as their phone lines are unmanned, you need to leave a message and they'll ring you back.

http://manchesteryogashala.co.uk/

The classes run every Saturday from 9.30 - 11.00 on Newton Street Mcr City centre (v. close to Debenhams!)

Hiya,
I live in Bury and am 26 wks pregnant with my 3rd boy! I am 38 and dont really know many people from this area but getting to Debenhams is a bit of a problem for me at the moment coz have got SPD quite badly! Would love to meet you all - do you think you will still be meeting up after June (hopefully SPD will go after Tommy is born) because the thought of being stuck in all day every day scares the pants off me tbh!

Hi everybody

just a quick reminder that the next meeting is this Thursday, 12.30 at Debenhams! I am looking forward to seeing you all! Emma, I hope you can make it too :-)

Lee,
I certainly hope we'll still be meeting in June, July, .... January, .... I probably won't be able to come in June as my baby is due :-) but I would definitely like to come again as soon as possible! I am enjoying the meetings and am sure I will do so even more once I am on maternity leave :-) I hope you don't feel too bad and will get better sooner rather than later! Looking forward to seeing you in a few months! All the best!

Davina, I found a drop-in pregnancy yoga class in Chorlton on Monday nights, 7-8.30pm, at St Clements Church (at least I think that is what the church is called). Remind me to tell you about it on Thursday. It's really good.

See you guys soon :-)
