Subject : Baby Monitors with sensor mat???

Can anyone recomend a monitor? Its a total minefield!!

I really wanted one with the sensor mat which detects baby's movements, but every monitor with the mat doesnt have as many other features.

Can anyone provide any advise to help me work out which is best?

Thanks!!!!

Hi

I had a Johnson & Johnson in touch monitor with sensor pad for my first child, it did have other features that were good such as night light and room temperature display, the parent unit could use batteries so you could move it around with you. I found this really reassuring knowing that an alarm would sound if my baby stopped breathing, but once they are big enough to move around their cot, the alarm can sound as they have moved off the sensor pad. I am now 32 weeks pregnant with my second child and I am looking at buying another monitor with sensor pad, Maws make one too.

Hi I used the Angel care with both my boys and found it really good. It's pretty basic and reasonably priced but I agree with Andrea Mac, when baby is big enough they can move off and alarm will sound but in those first few months I felt reassured. Although my husband did tell me that every time he woke up all he could see was my bum as I was peering into the moses basket checking all was ok!!!!

We have the Tomee Tippee monitor with sensor mat and have found it very good. It does only have 2 channels but we haven't had any problems with interference. You can use mains power or batteries on either unit. It was about £50 from argos. Our dd is 4.5 months and is in a crib so we haven't had the problem of her rolling off the mat. Once she's 6 months and in her cot and the risk of cot death is much less we probably won't use it so much anyway - maybe only if she's unwell, after immunisations etc. It has reassured me for these 1st few months. Smile

Hi

Just bought a angelcare baby monitor from www.angelcaremonitor.co.uk £67 it is 2 monitors in 1 breathing movement & sound and is wireless. I lost a sister due to cot death, so this has really bothered me hence the special monitor, I didn't think I'd be able to sleep without something like this. xx

Hi we have bought the SureSound Ultimate Monitor from Tommee Tippee - it has a sensor pad, room temp reading and Nightlight with dimmer switch - haven't used it yet as not due till New Year but it came highly recommended by a few people I spoke to and the sound clarity is apparently very good. I wanted one with a sensor pad because I thought it would help me worry less and therefore sleep better.

I used the tommee tippee reassurance 8 with my 1st baby & plan to use it with this one too & according to the instructions you can use it with any unsprung mattress so I think that would be ok for a moses basket. I didnt use a moses basket but I used it with a crib

i have got the latest tommee tippee one from mothercare it cost 109 pound and has a flashing light every time baby breathes, alarm sounds if it stops, also has temperature on it and a night light thatt you can adjust!!! it cost alot but if you were to buy a monitor then a night light and themometer it would cost enough, this is all in one and is really reasuring, you can carry the second unit around if you out batteries in it, if you go in the garden etc it still works, so is handy that way too!

I have got the Angel care monitor. I used it in the moses basket and still use it now even though my 19 week old is in her cot bed. It really reassured me becasue i was so worried that Lola would stop breathing at night. It has 5 channels, the parent unit is cordless has a volume control and also comes with a mains charger. The baby unit has a night light which is blue, shows the room tempurature and on the back you can choose if you want...movement, movement and sound, movement sound and tic (which is a ticking sound to settle baby) or just sound.
I got mine off ebay for £30 brand new unopened!!! I know asda are selling it for about £65, i think they are well worth the money!!
