Is there too much pressure on new mums to lose baby weight?

Subject : Do your Husbands/Partners work away?

Hi there! I was wondering if any of you have husbands who work away? My hubbie started a new job and works away for a month at a time. I just wondered how you are all getting on without them being there all the time.

I'm still very early on in the pregnancy and had bleeding this week. I've been to the hospital and had all the tests done. Going back tomorrow for more blood tests to see how things are going. I'm missing my husband a lot right now but trying not to worry him too much. x

Thanks Ladies x

Hi hun,
My fiance currently works 3 hours away for the whole week and i see him on weekends. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and had severe morning sickness and all i have longed for is a cuddle from my partner. So i do kind of know how you feel. It is hard and i do feel for you, especially seeing that this is only new to you and you are just pregnant. But about the bleeding, this could just be the time your period would have been due, or When a fertilised egg attaches to the uterine lining, this can result in light spotting or streaking (streaks of blood). So as easy as it is for me to say and as hard as it is to do, please do not stress too much about this. I am sure that your pregnancy will go along just fine. And regarding your partner, myself and mine do alot of texting, video messages, have each other on facebook, little letters given to them before they leave. I know it is hard but things will get easier for you when you find out that your baby is healthy and growing. Best of luck Smile

My husband is a consultant and is currently working on a project based in Edinburgh (we live in Reading). He's been home the past few weeks but was away quite a bit before that and is on the project for the next two years, so I can expect him to be away quite a bit!

Luckily it's only Monday to Friday. It can be hard (especially as we're living with his parents until we can move into our new house in December), but he's told his boss when all our appointments are to make sure he can be there - we try and get them for Monday mornings or Friday afternoons if possible so there's not as much disruption. Not sure what is going to happen nearer my due date though, I can just imagine going into labour when he's up there!

My husband works away too, and when he's not away he works long hours and also any work nights out (which is quite a few!!) are not optional. It always feels like his job comes before us, but I knew what he did when I met him and as hard as it is I know he needs to feel like I fully support him. He does his best to be here for any appointments we have and has come home for a few days this week as I have to have a scan today and see the consultant.
It is hard though and like Lizzie76, I am sure I will go into labour when he is not here!!
That's why I find this site so good, because it makes me feel I am not alone, which helps soooo much. xx
