Don't worry with my fist pregnancy i lost 3 & 1/2 stone!! I was a bit more than 10 stone though! lol i was told not to worry as baby will take everything it needs before your body does!! so if you are not eating too much or are sick etc you may well loose weight all the way through. The midwife will keep an eye on the baby to make sure it is gaining weight and as long as it is then all is well!!
I am always thinner than normal (for me) after i've had my babies! I just wish i could keep it off!! :-( lol

I think its understandable for some people to loose weight. I think i do initially, i stop drinking wine and stop munching crisps and eat more fruit etc. Just wish i could do that when im not pg!!!

I am 27 weeks and have only put on 2lbs even though I have a pretty big bump now. I lost quite a lot in my first trimester with me feeling sick all the time and having no appetite. Also like Gemm said I was a lot more careful about what I ate and had a lot more fruit and veg, especially ones rich in folic acid.

With you being slim anyway I would try not to lose too much, you will probably start putting weight on when you get into your second trimester and start feeling better (if you have been suffering) and have an increased appetite. I am overweight so the simple act of eating a little better has made me lose weight as the baby grows but with me being big anyway its not really an issue.

If you are really worried mention it to your midwife, she will give you an idea of what you should be eating and if you maintain that but still lose weight then it's obviously meant to be, as long as baby is getting everything it needs then thats all that matters irrespective of what your weight is doing.

Hon
Try not to worry. I did and my mw really wasn't concerned. If your overweight to start with you won't gain as quick as some people. My BMI was 29 so not massively overweight but still overweight by Dr's standards. In my first 12 weeks I lost 9lb and I didn't really have much sickness.
By 22 weeks I weighed by pre pregnancy weight but steadily since then I have now put on 1 stone 3lb and i'm 34+1. The baby doesn't actually weigh very much to start with so some people won't put on.
I think it very much depends on your eating habits. I had a tendency before pregnancy to eat for the sake of it, not due to hunger. Was always dieting or watching what I eat. When I fell pregnant my whole attidue changed. I ate what I wanted, when I wanted and started listening to my body and actually lost weight.
As long as you are eating what you consider to be enough to substantiate yourself then don't worry. Remember your body is going haywire at the moment so your metabolism does speed up.
Since being pregnant myself, I think it's a bit of a myth that you have to PUT on x amount of weight. I firmly believe if you eat/drink enough and what your baby needs then it is completely irrelevant to how much weight you put on. I'm actually packing a large baby weighing 6lb at present so if you take that, plus what the placenta weights (roughly same as baby) that takes me to 12lb. Give or take 3/4lb in water etc and I have literally JUST put on baby weight even though my thighs are definately thicker!
Miss I is right, mention it to your mw. When I did they really didn't seem concerned and what I have found is it depends on your mw. I saw a student mw who weighed me each time, noted my weight etc. Then I saw a typical headmistress style mw stuck in 1975 and she said she didnt' belive in weighing as it's completely irrelevant. Her attitude was "are you eating", then stop worrying!
I know it's hard as there is quite a stereostype that we areall supposed to gain weight but we are all different and actually after finding BE, I have now realised it's actually more common to lose or gain slowly than gain at a fast pace.
Hope this helps
Emma

I lost quite a bit of weight at the beginning and didn't start gaining until about 20 weeks. My MW or GP weren't concerned so I didn't worry - they didn't even bother weighing me, just measured my bump.
Bubs is fine and actually bigger than average, DH and I are both very tall.
Check with your MW or GP but I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure your're eating as healthily as possible.
