Subject : Section or VBAC - so confused
Im so confused
I had a section due to a undiagnosed breech (my fab son) in July 08 and am now 25 wks pregnant. I recovered really well and all went really well.
I am under consultant care due to my previous section which is really limiting my birthing options (not water birth - in a delivery suite not birthing unit -have to have a drip in my arm - have to go straight in when waters go, constant fetal monitoring etc etc) which Im not too pleased about really.
Part of me really wants to experince the later stages of delivery (as I nerv got there with ds) but I want to do this my way - not with all the interventions I listed above.
My consultant has pretty much offered me a section at 39 weeks due to the fact my son was 9lb 6 and had a large head (ouch) in fact he even got stuck coming out of tummy as they didn't cut whole big enough for his huge head.
It would take all the stress of waiting and no knowing out of expecting - but then I never do the natural delivery which I know has been discussed on here.
Sorry - gone on and really not sure what Im looking for. Just so confused...
Thanks for reading.

Hi hon, my dd was delivered by em cs in july 08 and my consultant has said they will support my choice for a vbac id i decide to have one-i will have to be inuced BUT am hoping i can get things going naturally before then.
Itsa choice only you can make i am afraid but i really think you need to ask your consultant lots of questions-i have a max of 76 days keft and have still not made a choice. . . . xxx

Gatecrashing because I've not had a section - but I was under a consultant in my first pregnancy, labour was induced as 11 days overdue, so I was in a delivery ward, with a drip into my hand and a monitor attached and I really don't feel it spoilt the experience at all! I had a very quick labour (3 hours), so not being particularly mobile if it was a long labour might have bothered me. But what I'm trying to say is, I had the birth you're being offered but aren't keen on, and can honestly say I don;t feel I missed out on any of the experience at all (apart from deciding when to go to hospital, but I'm told that's not much fun!) - I definitely still got to do the end stages of labour my way and without intervention - and with only TENS and gas and air.
Hope this reassures you a bit if you do decide to go for the VBAC

Thank you both for your replies...
Sunflower thank you for telling me you didn't feel it took anything from your birthing experince... its experince just like that I was looking for thanks
Z - not long for you now!!! This pregnancy has gone so fast for me compared to ds!
Still have days when I just don't know - days when Im set on VBAC and days when Im ready for a section...
Time to make my mind up and stick to it I think!

becoming a very cheeky monkey!! and has just learned to walk.. so we are in the constant bumping head on things stage. But he is just becoming more and more fun as his personality comes through. Im feeling ok thanks.. after the most horrible 1st 3 months (much worse than 1st time round).
Im looking forwards to having a little newborn again.. so special you just don't realise how fast they change do you!?
How is R? How are you I have seen you have been quite poorly - pregnancy isn't kind to you is it (other than R and your little boy on the way obv!)
I thought the same this morning - I would be quite happy if I was told one way or the other!

Aw bless him-how fab. Well done.,
R has always been clumsy she walks too fast for her legs and goes flying-split her lip the other day. frightened me to death.
They change so much-i was looking at her newborn pics at the weekend and she was sooo tiny for soo long.
Havent been brilliant BUT had a great first 20 weeks and now i have meds i am feeling an improvement-thanks. Cherishing every moment now-so lucky to be having another baby,
It is so true you forget it all once they are in your arms.
Could you maybe see if they would give you a growth scan and then maybe make a choice on baby size? would that help?xxx
