Subject : Appointment for fertility clinic has finally arrived
We have got our first appointment with the Working Nuffield on 30 November to discuss IUI/IVF...i'm so bl00dy relieved. DH has to go along on 19 November for a SA and i have a billion forms to fill in beforehand but i finally feel like that we are getting closer to our dream.
The only thing i'm confused about is when we will start our treatment. We are in the Surrey area and the waiting list is meant to be 6 months but the forms we are filling out all say that our results have to be from the last 6 months. I've had most of the tests done but if we have to wait another 6 months after our initial appointment do you think i will need to have them done again?
Any opinions and/or advice would be great.
Thanks girls
xx

WWAF, that's great news hon. We went for a look around Woking Nuffield and it seemed really nice and friendly there. I'm not too sure about the tests. They will probably want to see copies of all the tests at your initial appt, and given that that will be within 6 months, that may be ok. But I'm not sure....sorry not v helpful. Have you and you hubbie been tested for HIV, hep C, hep B, chlamydia? You also need to be tested for rubella immunity. Good luck xx

Thank you for replying girls.
TBD - our referring hospital made us have all those tests done because they knew we'd be asked for them at Woking so luckily all of that is done.
Gem78 - I'll make sure that i keep putting updates on here so that you can see what kind of experience we have. When we actually start treatment you are very welcome to e-mail me if you have any questions.
I think that we are so lucky being able to be treated at the Woking Nuffield on the NHS, the newspaper (can't remember which one now)which did an article on uk fertility hospitals had them listed as the 2nd highest results in the country for IVF so we are going to them with a lot of confidence.

That's good WWAF. Yes I agree they have really high rates. Have you had a look on the HFEA website? If you use the advanced search you can get all sorts of stats based on your age and what treatment you're having etc. So fab you can get this on the NHS. It makes such a huge difference! It's very welcoming at the clinic. One thing that took me back abit was all the hundreds of photos of babies all over the walls in recpetion and hallways. It's very nice to see all the positive results, but if you're having a down day could be a bit upsetting so just thought I'd warn you. Do you know which cons you're seeing? xx

Thanks TBD, i've never actually done an advanced search on there before so will give it a go. Also, thank you for the heads up on the baby pics.
We are being treated by Nick Brook who is apparently the loveliest man in the world!!
