Subject : Feeding Routine

Hi All,

Lily is 8 months old (tomorrow!) and our feeding routine is currently:

7:30/9:00 (whenever she wakes up): Baby porridge and toast

9:30/10:30 (depending on when she had breakie): Formula Milk (240ml)

12:30: Fish/Meat with veg or cauli cheese or pasta with sauce etc etc with fromage frais

15:00: Formula Milk (amoutn varies depending how much she wants)

17:00: Finger food tea - jam on bread fingers, dairylea triangle, humous, cooked veg, cheddar cheese, fruit and if she seems hungry still another fromage frais

19:30: Formula Milk (240ml)

I am intending to switch her morning milk and breakie to fit in better with nursery which starts in Jan, but I was wondering when we drop the mid afternoon bottle and replace with a snack, as she is seeming less and less keen on this bottle!!

Also, I as this is my first does our feeding routine look ok??
Any advice greatly appreciated!

My lo is 9 months and are feeding routine is very similar to yours! We do milk then breakfast in the morning tho, but if we didn't he wouldn't drink hardly any milk (very fussy on milk!)

We dropped the mid afternoon bottle at 8 months as he wasn't taking it usually 1oz! He drinks plenty of water throughout the afternoon, has a few snacks and straight to tea. He hasn't missed the bottle one bit! I would follow your baby's lead when she is taking hardly anything then perhaps she is ready to drop to two bottles. It's a good sign that she's taking enough food to drop down on her milk. If she's drinking well with her other two bottles then she's getting plenty. You can always give it again if she misses it xx

8/8.30- bottle 6oz on waking

9.30- breakfast (baby cereal/ weetabix and banana/ toast)

12o/c- lunch- some savoury meal i've dug out the freezer, plus some finger foods (carrot sticks, cucumber, toms, rice cakes) possibly yoghurt

3/3.30 bottle 6oz

5/5.30 dinner- again savoury meal, plus finger foods, cheese cubes, fruits etc,

7/7.30 bottle 8oz.

i have been thnking about changing one of his meals either lunch or dinner to just finger foods/ sandwhiches etc but bit stuck for inspriation on the sandwhich front espec as he's lactose intolerant/ milk allergic.
