hi love i would advise you to give it a try now before the new baby is ere, i put grace in her bed at 17months cos she was a right fidgit and kept banging her head and stuff. It was the best thing i did she settled into it from the first night no problems and she never woke once during the night. I would just give a try love like you said you wont have the time once new baby is ere

Rhys went into his bed at a similar age (also have no2 on the way so wanted to do it befor then) and he was great and loved his bed. We only had 2 nights of getting in and out, but once he was asleep he was fine.
If tou're worried about him falling out when he flings himself around maybe you try a bed guard with him.
We didn't bother and just put some pillows at the side of the bed and although we have the odd tumble it doesn't bother him in the slightest lol x

i knew Lennon was ready when i went in to see him and he was nearly in the same position every night, only then did i think he was ready, mainly because he would end up in all sorts of positions,i also out some pillow down just in case
hes in a big bed now but its quite high up bit there is a bed guard up which i think is fab and would have used it sooner if hadnt have been moving house,it takes up about half the bed so no way he was going to fall out
i no its a big step but im sure you'l know when the time is right if it isnt now xx
good luck x

I didn't see this when you orginally posted but I am glad it went well for you makes me think positive about us making the move. I am thinking of putting Lily into a bed just after Christmas- she has just turned 16 months now so will be nearly 18 months then. Baby number 2 is due beginning of May and we are planning are redoing the spare room into Lily's new big girl room so the nursery will be for the baby but wanted to do it with plenty of time so she doesn't feel pushed out of her old room when the new baby comes. I was going to turn the cot into a bed a few months back because she can climb out of it BUT she moves alot in her sleep and hubby didn't think she was ready and we both worried about her falling out of bed. She hates being in her cot other than for sleep so as soon as she wakes up she has to come out otherwise she will climb out herself!eeek! Anyway I hope your lo continues to sleep well in his new big boy bed! xx

When daniel was around that age he started doing kind of the same thin, but with him he wouldn't sleep in his cot he always ended up being in our bed, and like you i was pregnant.
We tried him in a bed, got a toddler safety gate to go on the side of the bed so he would feel safe and it was the best thing that we ever did, would def recommend it.
