Hi,
Went for 20 week scan on tuesday, all good apart from left kidney measuring 5.7 mm and so have to go back at 28 weeks to check if still enlarged, they said :\?it was nothing to worry about as was only alittle over guide line and will most likely correct its self, i have looked up this RPD as they called it on my notes and i am now really worried, has any one else had this ????????

sorry chick hven't had this but if it only slightly over the guide i wouldn't worry too much as all babies are different also if they were really concerned i think they would have brought you in sooner than 28 weeks. Are you due in March becky???? Join the due in March forum i'm 23 weeks so not far apart its handy to talk to people at same stage of pregnancy as well as those ahead of you etc xx

My friend was told her little boy had problems with his kidneys. They had to have extra scans but were told nothing could be done, they would have to wait for him to be born. Once he was they scanned him and he was normal! They had worried her for half the prgnancy for nothing! They may have corrected themselves, or there was nothing to worry about in the first place.

Sorry this isn't more detailed, it was over a year ago, but I thought I'd let you know that they can be wrong and/or it can correct itself. Her little boy has just celebrated his first birthday (halloween).

I hope everything works out well.

Take care
Emma

My friend has had this in both her pregnancies and she was told it was nothing to worry about and both her little boys are fine and have no kidney probs now.

I hope this helps as i know how these docs etc can really get you worried and stressed and dont always give you all the facts.

xx

Hi!

I had this with my first. The sonographer told me that this can sometimes happen because we have to drink a lot of water before the scan - it can result in more passing to the baby than usual. Whether this is true or not I don't know, but LO has had no further problems.

Also, if memory serves me right, her kidney was 5.8? That may be wrong, but it was definitely just slightly over the norm.

Don't let yourself worry too much about it, as others have said, it is more likely to correct itself than not.

Happy x
