Subject : Reality is starting to hit!!
As the title says really! A friend who's 3 weeks ahead of me has just delivered her little boy! It's kind of hit home that maybe I should pack my hospital bag and get bub's clothes washed and ready as she was expecting a christmas baby, and ended up with a bonfire night one!
Please tell me that there are other ladies out there who are as (un) organised as me...please

We've managed to get most things now except the car seat which we'll order over the weekend. But nothing has been washed and my hospital bag is half packed (only with baby things). It is a really tricky time as I want to do everything now and have everything washed and sorted, but then what if I go until 42 weeks? I've got ages ahead of me without anything to do!!
Maybe I'll do a small wash of blankets, few clothes and moses basket bits now. I can always wash them closer to the time if baby still hasn't arrived.

Denial-think you've hit the nail on the head MB! Definitely going to have my bag packed and ready by Sunday...Honest! What more of a kick up the backside do I/we need?? Hope you get yours done too xx
Fay, think I'm going to do the same, wash everything and put it away/pack it, and then if I do go late, I can re-wash everything. We haven't even got the cot set up yet...eeek! xx

Hello
i think the unexpected january arrival has shaken a few of us into getting organised! i have half my bag packed and we have most things, i am going to pick the car seat and pram up next week and the nursery furniture should arrive in a week or two then i can sort the clothes out, its hard to belive that the baby can come anytime from now and no later than 11 weeks even if way overdue!

MB-how nice it must be to be able to sit in your nursery and imagine your little one there. Is that a picture on your avatar? Know what you mean about the bag, that's why I keep putting mine off. Don't think hubby would know where to start if he had to get a bag ready in a hurry. Maybe I should use the thought of ending up with absolutely nothing remotely useful (if he had to do it) to motivate me, bless him!
PP, you must have so much going on already having just moved house, don't know how you manage to be so organised also! Bet you're looking forward to life after sunday, it's a hard slog in our line of work. Don't like to think about going way over-due, the single figure count-down has begun, and can't handle the thought of going back to double figures, lol.

The first arrival in Jan shock me up, plus my SIL had a miscarriage at 4 months last week so I have everything packed and really to go. Touch wood I wont need everything but I must admit I do feel better having everything ready - plus it is fun to push the pushchair up and down the hall!!!

I've been in denial for a while but today I bit the bullet and washed all the newborn/first size clothes, moses basket sheets, muslins and bath capes! I even bought some drawer organizer thingies from Ikea so I can keep apart the small things!
One piece of advice to any other first timers, put the tiny socks, scratch mitts etc in a mesh washbag else they totally get lost and stuck in seal of the door of the washing machine! I learn something new every day!

lol xpatmum2b, sadly one of my scratch mits had already been a casualty of the door seal!! OH is tree surgeon so its not unusual to find the best part of a hedge in my door seal, I didn't think the give it a wipe out so my little scratch mit came out of the machine dirtier than when it went in - grrrr.
its amazing how many little items you can get in a load though!
Hospital bag is underway, def reality check this wk after bumping into my mw at work who wanted to check something in my notes, I didn't have them with me and I got a bit of a telling off!!! Did point out they're not exatly 'pocket-sized'!

I know, all these early babies do make you think!
I have the overwhelming urge to get the babies things and nursery ready but we are moving house, hopefully in early Dec, so everything i have bought for the baby is still in the bags it came home in. My pram is still in the box in the garage and we have put the nursery furniture delivery on hold. :(
Maybe i should have a rummage and pull out a few bits so i can get a bag packed........

Thanks for the tip re: scratch mits and socks Liz, wouldn't have considered it otherwise. Still haven't gotten round to washing the clothes, may make that a job for this afternoon.
Sounds like most of you ladies are very prepared, and put me to shame! Really need to get my backside into gear...after all, christmas is only around the corner, and still have all the prep to do for that too, yikes! xx

Im one of the unorganised ones too. lol
Although like the rest of us after hearing about the first Jan baby to make an early apperance I keep thinking about my hospital bag. I have done a few bits for the baby but not much as I've not yet bought anything really for him in the way of cloths. It's the same for me too, I need to go and do a shop before I can start mine and finish babies. Im hoping I can eeek it out till payday then I'll be off and buying everything for both of us. I've washed the bedding but thats only because I was doing a bed wash and thought I'd put it in too but at the moment he'll be naked for a while If I don't pull my finger out. lol
