Subject : 24 hour headache!

Hi all,

As the title says i woke up with a headache yesterday morning that lasted all day then got worse last night so i was in bed by 8.30pm, kept waking in the night to go to the loo and it pounded every time i got up. Woke up this morning with it still there! Have tried to avoid paracetamol but had to take 2 this morning and they have helped to shift it though still feel a bit achey. Has anyone else had this? for me a normal headache will always go by the next day even if not taking anything. I now feel bad for having paracetamol as i'm 11+2 and read to avoid it in the first 12 weeks. How have you all been with paracetamol in the first 12 weeks?

I had that a few days ago. It lasted about 48 hours and it woke me up a couple of time in the night. I took paracetemol and have done a few other times in the first 12 weeks, my doctor said its fine to take. With the headache, i found that sprite helped and to also drink lots of water to make sure i was properly hydrated as being dehydrated only makes it worse. Sorry its happened to you lovey xx

Thank you for your reply PP,

It's good to know someone else has experienced it and you have taken paracetamol in the first 12 weeks too. Am drinking as much water as poss at the moment, let's hope we both don't get anymore!

I've also been told to take paracetamol to help my earache. I've been told by 2 midwives and a doctor that paracetamol is fine and I've taken it a few times during this pregnancy! x

Thats so wierd you mentioned this because I got a headache Monday night and it only went away yesterday. I booked an eye test which I had today but my eye sights fine but the optician said to see my gp about the headaches because they shouldnt be lasting that long.
I took a paracetemol on Wed but I didnt dare take more than 1 and that didnt really take it away. I'll definately be taking them if it comes back though. xx

I have taken paracetamol and co-codamol (was in so much pain) and doc said both are fine although I do try to avaoid co-codamol.
As PP said, make sure you are hydrated, it really effects me.
I wonder if you could use 4Head? B worth checking it out. Sounds a bit naff but I managed to get rid of a 2 day migraine with it. Apparantly tablets can actually make it worse so I stopped tablets and used 4Head and it worked.

Thank you girls, feel so much better about taking paracetamol now Smile

Thanks for reminding me about 4head ali, mine is out of date and i used to find that quite good for mild headaches.

Shmizmar- I hope you don't get anymore long ones like that, must have been awful x

Can 4head be used during pregnancy/breast-feeding?

Safety in pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been determined, although there have been no reports of associated side effects. As applies for all medicines, 4head should be used with caution in these patient groups, and on advice from a healthcare professional

Just in case you were interested. id be tempted to use it but the menthol makes my skin tingle lol. Same reason i cant use deep heat :-( xx

I have never had headaches much before but this pregnancy I have had them quite a lot- the worst started 2 days ago and is just starting to ease off today. I did take 2 paracetamol on Thursday morning but didn't really help it really felt like my head was being split in two. My friend said it could be linked to high blood pressure as she had this when she was pg with her little girl and headaches were one of the symptoms I am seeing my mw soon so think will mention it as it is very unusual for me. xx

Ive had a constant headache since last monday, with it only dulling a few hours at a time. Just come back from the doctos and they've singed me off work for 2 weeks as it sounds stress related. Try to rest where possible and drink lots of water!!

Hi,

Sorry for gatecrashing but just thought I would share my tips, Ive had terrible headaches/migraines throughout my pregnancy and im nearly 21 weeks, paracetamol is fine to take (Ive been popping loads lol!) but another magic tip is lucozade. I swear by the stuff, hydrates you really quickly and makes you feel tons better :-) also i use 4head too and with the combination of all 3 I can get through the day lol!

Hi ladies.

I am quite the opposite to you ladies. When I got pregnant with my second daughter I started suffering from bad migraines (never had them before) and they carried on after too. Then when I got pregnant with this little bean they have completly stopped...which is a good thing as my second daughter is now 11 so a long time to suffer them. As for the taking paracetamol before the 12 week mark I wouldn't worry about it as there is so many ladies out there that dont even realise they are pregnant before the 12 week mark and just carry on as normal xx
