Subject : Am going slightly mad.....
Isla has started waking twice in the night again?!!!!!! I have no idea why and we've not changed her routine at all and Im SO tired! Its happened 3 nights in a row now and Im praying for a quieter night especially seeing as Hubbys up in Liverpool watching the Everton game :-(
Anyone elses little darling suddenly changed like this and more importantly any idea how to get her back to normal? I was hoping she'd start to go throw the night now shes almost 9 wks not blimmin wake more! I keep hearing people say their babies are sleeping through and one of my friends babies who is is 2 weeks younger than her has been for the past 3 weeks and its making me so envious.
Sarah.x
p.s I am actually going mad-Islas been in bed an hour and Im sat here with BabyTV on lol!

I take full responsibility for the Baby TV induced madness...
No two nights for me are the same at the minute and I think 9 weeks is not too bad for only waking twice!! I certainly don't have a baby that sleeps through!!
Is there any part of your routine that has changed or are you stressed or anything?
My HV said not to compare Tilly to other babies, be it feeding or sleeping as some new mums exaggerate how much their babies sleep as some sort of boast but the reality is that babies set their own sleep pattern and most need feeding every 3-4 hours so are unlikely to sleep through!
She said not to expect any sort of pattern until at least 12 weeks.

Thanks Lulu. I guess its also cause I have 4 good mates who I meet with regularly who's babies all slept through by about 6 weeks! Im the only one with matchsticks holding up my eyelids lol!
Ive not changed my routine at all but we've not been bathing her every night for the last couple of weeks so could be that.... She goes 3 hours between feeds during the day and then can sleep 5 hours in a row at night so I guess we're getting there but its like a big tease when she is only waking once then all of a sudden its twice again the little monkey!
Im looking forward to the 12 weeks for a number of reasons but also dreading it cause I cant believe my little girl will be a whole 3 months old! Its really flying by.
Im sure in a years time I'll be looking back wishing I could still have that quiet time in the nights with her.
Am feeling much calmer thanks to watching a fish tank for the past 10 minutes on babytv lol!x

Hi Hun, Jacob is exactly the same, for 2 weeks he was going down at about midnight and he would then wake between 4 - 5am... BUT for the past few days i feel we have taken a big step backwards and he is waking every 2-3 hours....and i have no idea, we are doing nothing different!!
Im wondering if its ecen possible for him to be teething? He is really winging which isnt like him at all!! and he is really dribbly and always sucking on his fist!!!!
Haha... i always end up forgetting to turn it off!! xxx

Hey steph,
its funny you should say that about the dribbling thing cause Isla's started that this week too-and putting her hands in her mouth loads. I thought it was far too early for teething though?!
Love your avatar by the way-so cute! x

Beth is nowhere near sleeping through hun. You're definitely not alone. Some nights she wakes once (after midnight that is...!) and others twice. I can't really say why as we haven't changed anything.
Beth is doing the dribbling and hands in mouth thing too. Maybe it's just something they do at this stage? I remember my niece wearing bibs at 2 months because of dribbling but she didn't get her teeth until later.

Harry was sleeping till 4 and only waking once but now has started waking two or three times a night but he's only 7 weeks. He does'nt dream feed as he's not hungry so I'm putting him to bed earlier and introducing a dream feed hopefully that will help.
I also did'nt realise they could teeth this early.

do you think it could be a growth spurt and she just needs more milk? Daniel did this needed 18 oz in 6 hours at about 8 weeks for a couple of nights. He just expanded overnight, half his babygros didn't fit him! he soon went back to his usual pattern x

Tilly has started chewing her hands too but babies discover their hands at this stage, this is also making her dribble but don't think she is teething, she's never been a great sleeper either!!
However, my friend had a baby 4 days before I had Matilda and he is teething! The doctor didn't believe my friend until he saw the two little white marks on his bottom gum so it is possible!!

Thanks for the replies, I did wonder about the feeding thing and that maybe she is just hungry but after a whole 4 hours sleep in a row last night I woke feeling SO much better today! I think I got overexcited about the fact she'd only been waking once and thinking that pretty soon she'd be sleeping through completely but I forget shes still so little and probably wont for another few weeks yet.
She went down about 8 last night after alot of fussing although she was obviously really tired, then woke herself up about 10.30pm for a feed and then went back to sleep til 2.30am. She took 4oz then and slept through til 7.30am! I was chuffed when I saw the clock!
I think its that late feed at 10.30 that makes all the difference as it seems to be when she doesnt have that shes up more often. Im thinking of waking her tonight if she doesnt wake herself-do you think Im mad or should I just let her be? The GF book I have suggests it but everyone else I know says never to wake a sleeping baby!
A more sane Sarahboo! xx
(Still have babytv on though from earlier when I had some friends over with their babies and now I cant find the blimmin remote!)

I wake Daniel at about 5.30 to feed him, as otherwise he is so grumpy and hungry in the morning afterwards I don't get any benefit from him sleeping for longer! to be honest i wake up myself in the night now out of habit so i might as well feed him. i think there's plenty of time to stop doing this.
good luck x
