Subject : Breech Birth anyone? Also posted in baby

Hi Ladies,

My baby is still breech at the moment and my midwife has said that my hospital do perform breech births (aslong as baby doesnt have his legs down). The thought of having a breech birth really scares me and i think i would prefer a c-section.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had a breech birth and how they found it? My midwife seems so anti c-section she made me feel like i should go for the breech birth.

Baby still has time to turn so fingers crossed.

thanks,

Nikola 36+2 xc

Don't be bullied by your midwife, go with your instincts hun. Its your baby and your birth. Go with what you think xxx

I havn't had a breech birth (well any birth due today though) anyway my hospital is very reluctant to do breech births, particularly with first time mum's as although it is possible it does have increased risk to mother and baby. It's not professional for a midwife to suggest or even hint at one particular birth choice so she shouldn't be doing that. Also how can you rely on having the experienced team needed on the day or night you go into labour.

I was breech for 2 months so read loads on breech births, my baby turned at 36+1 but there is no way I would have had a breech birth but I understand for some women it's very important, if it wasn't that important to you then I would do what feels right for you and the midwife can go and jump...some hospitals will do anything to keep their statistcs down which sadly does include reducing sections.

Inka xxx
